Never seen it done and it sounds like a terrible approach.

Sure FRP/S1600 etc. panels would be far less messing.

And more again to fit and paint them, it's no small job.

Similar money and more difficult and might look a bit strange.

thanks ian g but ive looked into frp arches and all in all it would be cheaper to buy an frp than do all the modifications to the standard car. i have looked at fiesta rs turbo arches and there a close fit to the puma, the only down fall is the fact they would need to be extended into the bumpers or it would look daft. im good with bodywork and dont mind spending hours styling the lines of my cars. on the foam arches front i would use it as a kind of area filler to smooth the arches to the body along the seam that runs down the centre of the body. i found a link of a show car that was done to show it could be done. i would be putting a layer of fibre glass over the foam once i had the shape i wanted to put some strengh into the shape.

Enough material to do the job won't be cheap either.

Heavy, messy, will definitely take over your life etc. etc.

Different approach but yeah, there are reasons why its not a popular option.

Particularly as in the case of the Puma, FRP or S1600 panels look good and compliment the car. Without getting too personal about that Merc I don't think it ended up much of a looker. There is that gamble that in addition to having the skill to do it you also need a bit of an eye for design, while you're working on the car.

You've seen some of Leepu's efforts? And he's got lots of practice.

that merc looks awful - and I wouldnt like to see the mess it makes after a crash expanding foam filler isnt exactly bulletproof.

I've got he complete set of body moulds / grp panels for one of these http://www.racedandr...-x-4-cosworth#. Unless its on a wide tracked puma, IMHO it would look gash...
