can anyone verify that this connector is put back ok....

it just seemed very odd... it seemed it was the wrong way round and the wire loom was a very awkward reach... ja_stupid.gif

i just can't see that it can go back any other way.... wacko.gif

ah... the penny has now dropped.... thanks happy kat....

quick fix tomorrow.....

it's a little confusing when the hole for that connector doesn't actually have the screw through it..... i see it is the gold metal bit....

just a little word for anyone attemting this.....

a.... the 10mm screws at the plastic cam cover are a right awkward sod to locate the screw holes again....

b.... the little 8mm gold screws (&washers) that hold the rocker cover on will very easily 'thread' and carry on spinning if you apply too much pressure with a wrench, so don't try and torque them mega tight... the thread just won't take it... 1 of mine has a never ending spin on it... wacko.gif

The rocker cover bolts on a Zetec 1800 only need 7 nm of torque, in two stages. The tiniest possible amount past finger tight it seems

it clips into the VCT sensor hole so that the sensor can be faced in the opposit direction.... slightly strange design...

Camshaft Position Sensor innit?

spose its more economical to make a small clip to convert a part thats already being mass produced than produce one specifically for the puma.

How difficult a job is it to do the rockerbox gasket? Mine needs doing - I was going to drop it into a garage, but if it's a simple enough job I'd like to get into working on cars myself. Is this a job for the uninitiated? I'm handy with a screw driver, and willing to get my hands dirty, but not used to working on engines.

Cheers,

Danny.

wouldn't like to say how easy or hard it is and then somone get oil all over their belts and plugs... huh.gif

there's a few bits that need to come off.... the rocker cover can then be thorougly cleaned and rubbed with a fine scotchbrite cloth....

the actual gasket i lubed slightly with silicone grease to keep it a little more moist.... the fiddly part is when your putting the cover back on and the gasket is drooping all over the place, and the black plastic cam cover is in the way slightly.... even with a few screws out to loosen it....

it's slightly fiddly but doable for diy'ers i think....

Cheshire Kat.... i pm'd you or darren re 'block'.... get it... ??

Ive worked on plenty of engines Chris, just never fords unsure.gif seems easy enough to do. If i can do a total rebuild on my nova i can change a rocker gasket im sure. Just wanted some pointers really as to what to watch out for etc.

Definately going to attack the cover with the scotchbright though. Yours looks v nice ja_cool.gif

Oh the block hasnt arrived yet mate, hopefully tomorrow. I will try to copy it asap and send right back to you mate. Cheers for letting me use it though really appreciate it 10.gif 10.gif

cool.... it's not a big job to be honest.... depending on how much cleaning you do, it will take around an hour'ish....

note.. the piccy of mine has the cam sensor switch the wrong way round........ when you take the plastic cover off, you will see... smile.gif

might be worth getting silicone lube off ebay.... will help the gasget seal and keep it moist..... thats my theory anyway.... could be bo****s.. smile.gif
