Hey

Was wondering this.

Mine does, but I seem to remember the guy who sold it to me saying something like "No other Puma's have sunroofs"

Not too sure if he was

a. lying
b. saying it had a factory mod
c. saying he modified it himself.

I would be worried if it was c although have had quite a few horrible rainy days and no leaks so I guess no real need to worry. But I was just wondering if other Kats have em.

Sarah

It wasn't available as a factory option, however you could have one fitted by a dealer, I believe it is the same item as could be dealer fitted to the Ka.

Is it electric or manual? Does it slide or just tilt?

Typical aftermarket then, could be Ford fitted, but could also be from an aftermarket supplier.

Okay so he wasn't lying about it not being standard so. I always wanted one but now that I have it I could take it or leave it really. Adds a fair bit of noise to fast journeys

The car I'm driving at the moment has a glass sunroof in it.
It's ONE redeeming point really
It was quite nice yesterday just to opening it and get a bit of air flow.
Also makes the car nice and light inside.

OK the Puma's don't need one if you have Aircon.
Bit like my mates Z4 3Ltr BMW he bought last week, a convertible with Aircon.
But it covers every possibility.

I do not have aircon , so the idea of a sun roof is quite appealing.

I'm wondering what the cost might be ?
It don't mean a thing If It ain't got that swing ~

They were all the craze in the 80's, I think Halfords fitted them too.
I fitted a few, including one in my Escort Van.
The only picture I could find with the sun roof showing

Two years ago, mine cost £349 fitted and took less than an hour and half to do the job. Check out the thread on here somewhere for the address, phone number of the dealer that fitted it. After all of the rain, snow etc we've had I've still had no leaks. They are rare and as such very hard to find, it took the dealer a month of ringing round to get one for me. They are the same units as fitted to the Ka so you can ask for a Ka/Puma sunroof. There is a place in Bristol that quoted me £550 for an electric one but it was a bit much for the budget so I stuck to the manual tilt wind up option. You do get a bit of wind noise when the roof's up but it's never bothered me at all. I've never seen another with a sunroof, but I was told that there's a couple of others knocking about.

It was never a factory fit option on the Puma.
It could be fitted by a Dealer as it was on the accesory parts list, same as fitted to the Ka.

Does the Ka sunroof only open and not slide as I would really like a tilt and slide sunroof but cannot find anyone who installs them in Teesside. I appreciate any suggestions.

If you mean an internal sliding sunroof with the option of having the glass tilting, you're out of luck I think. Because of the Puma's rollover bar between the two door pillars, there's nowhere for the glass to slide into, (put your hand on the headlining in the middle of the roof and you'll see what I mean). I'm pretty sure that the electric one I was quoted for was just an electric tilting one (but I could be wrong). Try Bristol Sunroof Centre and see what they say.

This is why you can not have a sliding one

I'd be interested in getting a sunroof, my dads old sierra had a sunroof that slid right back I don't know if you can get this done because the roof on the puma sort of has an arch shape ?

I think the previous 2 posts explain that a sliding sunroof is not possible in the Puma, unless the Sierra on slid back on the outside?

Difference having a sunroof aswell is that it doesn't use up fuel unlike air con so even if the car had air con it would still be a good addition to add to the car.

Actually it does. The added drag from having a sunroof (or window) open typically has a greater impact upon fuel economy than using air conditioning.
