I've just picked up FMC #21 and am trying to sort out the car - front discs, drive shafts, centre console, gear stick, door cards, steering wheel, air vent, floor pan, boot carpet, parcel shelf, front grill 9behind the No Plate) etc. all of the previous are in some way broken or damaged which is a real shame. I've bought a lots of the bits directly from Ford and have now fixed most the interior damage but still have brakes and drive shafts and a small weld on the floor pan to sort out. but..............

i can't find anyone (tried Puma Build and the like) who is willing to re-trim or reattach the existing alcantra to the front door cards sad.gif I'm in Watford Herts, does anyone know of a company who is either local or that i can send the cards off to??

Also i'm trying to get the paper work in order, i've got a standard puma owners guide now but am after the FRP owners supplement, does anyone know where i can track one done and buy??

I'm trying to get my car up to the same standard it would have been to start with, i love the way the car drive just a shame about the condition i picked it up in sad.gif If anyone can help, can you please email me details? i've put my email address at the bottom on this post

Cheers
Darren

has the cam belt been changed?

there was never a owners manual for that FRP (being FMC) however the proof print run of 0000 do sometimes come up on Ebay.

Someone did say what glue they had used to restick the fabric on the door cards, this only affected pre 100 really as the process was changed as during production the wrinkles were noticed, the odd car that the customer didn't fuss over hasn't got replacement/fixed door cards (done under warranty back then). Though yours being FMC would not have been changed anyway.

there is a little of the original fabric available to buy still if yours are beyond repair. Can also be used to retrim the steering wheel etc.

your FRP went to Manoco too and was used in the Toyo tyre advert, nice history biggrin.gif

Hi Darren,

Congratulations on you purchase biggrin.gif
I see there is a door card on Ebay at the moment. The people that get used for re trimming steering wheels are Allon Whites click here.
I'm sure Sean could sort you out wink.gif With any trim work you need doing.
It's a standard Puma steering wheel covered in Alcantara.

the material can be got from BOYRIVEN , near Andover. They were the original supplier to Tickford / Ford.
It's about £38 inc Vat a linear meter and what they have left is all thats left anywhere !
So buy some ASAP.

The price of brake parts will make your eyes water rolleyes.gif about £400 for a pair of disks and don't ask about calipers!

Graham

Cheers biggrin.gif Am trying to trace the cam belt but not ben able to confirm or deny yet......might have it done anyway to prevent any valve meets piston moments...GULP!! ohmy.gif

For the door cards the faric is fine just baggy as anything, i was tempted to remove it myself and re attach using fabrix spray glue but don't want to bugger up the job, i'm trying to fix the car not make it look more shabby!

For the owners supplement, there was a post on here that a chap had a load but i've not been able to reach him and iid know if anyone had an original they can scan and email me or the like?? ........

Just trying to get this one back in the condition it should be so it looks like it drives.....veeeeeeeery nice biggrin.gif

Thanks Graham, i've pinged over an email re the door cards so hopefully will now be able to get that sorted. the wrinkled fabric looks really poor esp now i've use a lint shaver to de-bobble the seats and fitted a new air vent, centre console, gear knob, cubby tray behind the handbrake etc.

I'm really just looking to get the car back up to the standard it should be. I'm pleased with the car but will be even more pleased once i get all the niggles sorted! smile.gif

Cheers
Darren

If you don't know when the belt was done you should definitely have it seen to asap - snapped one on a Lancia Turbo, that was the last time I drove the car!!

Sorry to change the subject but with reference to the Toyo advertisment (a picture is on the site somewhere) it was noted that the FRP was running in the opposite direction to the F1 cars - was watching Eurosport the other day and noticed that the Touring Cars also traveled in the same direction as the FRP, perhaps it evens out rubber and oil deposits on the circuit.

Welcome Darren. smile.gif

I would imagine Allon White will be able to sort the door cards for you. Looks like you have the alcantara information from Graham already smile.gif

sorry to hassle people but any chance that someone has a copy that they can scan and email me (ddrinkw@googlemail.com) I have all the paperwork for the car no bar the supplememt. Cambelt s being done, brakes are being done, front bumper is being stripped and redone, both rear arches are being done to remove the gravel rash, wind screen has been repaired, inside is all done bar the door cards so i've almost got FMC #21 up to scratch....phew!!! and OUCH to the wallet!! But still great fun to drive - 80 miles a day to work and a grin a mile smile.gif
Cheers to anyone able to help me get the last bits squared away
Darren

Cheers for this everyone. I was just looking to get as much paperwork about the car as possible to make things original. The car was to be frank a pile of crap when i got it, shagged drive shafts, brakes (discs, calipers and pads) the interior was a mess bits broken and falling off, petrol cap busted key busted, paint work on every panel bar the roof damaged with chips and gravel rash. I've spent a fortune to get the paint resprayed, interior bits all bought new, new, drive shaft, calipers, discs etc. Bits like the paperwork are just to try and complete the package really smile.gif
