Bearing in mind a variety of posts and comments about FRP performance, I thought I'd set up a poll to see what everyone's experiences are. A couple of caveats please:

[list]:!: This is max speed before the rev limiter kicks in (so we're talking 7,000+ rpm)
:!: No bonuses for tail winds, going downhill or having rockets attached (I'm talking to you here Colin!)
:!: If you've modded your FRP (e.g. Powerflow, Bluefin, etc.) please post as well as poll listing your speed and mods.[list]
This is a completely unscientific but fun way to see what the differences in our 'mass produced' cars are and how some of the changes we've all made (dis)improve it's performance.

Happy posting!

LOL, there's going to be a lot of FRP owners thrashing around in first on the way home tonight! I think I'm around 35mph but will check before voting.

I haven't voted myself yet as I'm going to give it a thrashing tomorrow. However I reserve the right to re-vote once I get my car sorted back again!

What digital speedo?  :derr:

To put the LCD display into diagnostic mode hold in the trip reset button while turning the key from position I to position II and hold the trip reset button down until the LCD changes from the normal odometer display to 'test' (five seconds or less), then release the button. To get it back out of diagnostic mode, simply turn the ignition key back to position I.

You can't do this without resetting the trip-meter. If keeping your current trip-meter reading is important to you, don't try to do this.

Initially you will see the first diagnostic display. Pressing the trip reset button will take you to the next display, looping back to the first one after the last one. The car will function normally if you drive it while the instrument-cluster is in diagnostic mode.

Cheers for that! Think I'll just use the normal speedo though, being a hamfisted fool I'll probably end up doing something stupid if I start messing with things like that.

You'll be fine!!

The only thing you can "mess" up is setting the trip counter to 0.

If you have a go anyway, you'll notice a big reading difference!

Hmmm, didn't know you could do that with test mode, but since I set up the vote in 5mph increments it probably doesn't really matter; unless you can do 50+ then I think digital speedo reading is called for and you need to post!

Too late, I can't add extra options. Can I take it you are the 'less than 35 mph'?

Go on Kate you can do it....if it can survive the test it was put through below I'm sure it will survive you revving to the rev limiter once in first wink.gif

Mine hits 35mph on the nail at limiter. Although I wonder about the accuracy of my speedo.

Odd thing, the A34 near Oxford, there is a piece of the road that's a 50 limit. It now has speed sensitive signs that flash '50' if you are exceeding that limit. Well, last night I drove that way home, for a change and had the lane in front of me clear and the sign was off, I was doing 50 (speedo reading) exactly, on the mark. But the sign still went off.

I think that all the cars I've ever owned have had over reading speedo's not underreading ones. I'm a little worried now. I'll hook my GPS in the car tonight, see what it makes of my speed.

Anyone else notice problems with speedo?

Well, I gave 241 a good thrashing on the way home yesterday and found the following top speeds according to the normal speedo :

1st - about 35mph

2nd - about 60mph

3rd - about 85mph

Not dissimilar to the ones Lisa posted in the other thread except for my speed in third. I realise there is more margin for error the faster you go so maybe that explains it. Still, how were you managing nearly 50 in first Lee? Its a mystery. ja_stupid.gif
