Hello all,

Was down at Loton Park on Easter Sunday to watch a bit of the hillclimb action. There were a few treats to see in action there, including the Gould puma (which has been mentioned on here a couple of times before) and a couple of proper Audi Quattros which sounded just amazimg with all their pops ad bangs from the exhaust, along with the induction/turbo sounds.

I've put a set on flickr here

here are a few teasers though smile.gif

Julie,

the static ones and the few at the start line were taken with my Sigma 28-70 f2.8 lens. the action shots were using my new 70-200 f.28 sigma smile.gif

Pete,
thanks. there is something very menacing about those audi's I think, especially in the front view shots smile.gif I woud love to own one but dread to think how much they would cost for a well prepared one sad.gif

Years ago Paul i loved watching Quattros rallying, my favourite driver was Walter Rohl, when i marshaled the top paddock at the Goodwood festival of speed, i met Walter, he ran into me (literally) and i was spreadeagled across the bonnet of his original Quattro, i also met Erik Carlsson, my original rally'Hero' that day, among a lot more of my motorsport heroes from over 2 or more decades.

looks ike the rear deffuser has had some work on the Puma, it gets bigger and bigger

I bet the noise was awsome that day of watching cool.gif
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

You really get a feel for the power too when you can get within about 4 or 5 feet of the cars in the pre-start area where they spin up the wheels to heat their tyres.

It's a shame more people can't get out and see the cars in the metal...you also feel and smell them too cool.gif

Goodwood Festival of Speed = you can do both, expensive, but worth it.

I definitely agree with you there Colin, you can only really appreciate these machines in the metal.

I've just come back from Elvington watching the drag bikes in action. It's the first time I've been and I' was pleasently surprised at how close you can get to them. On the camera my 70-200 (105-300 in 35mm terms) lens was almost not wide enough at the wide angle end at some viewing points smile.gif
