Hello all,

just a quick post to say that I'm in the process of booking myself a place on the following course:

http://www.goingdigital.co.uk/photographyc...birdsofprey.htm

It's basically the same as I did last year and I really enjoyed it, although I was a little disappointed with the results, so I thought it would be good to see what a year down the line has done for me in comparison.

I think Ben F is interested in also booking a place so if anyone else would like to come along then have a look at the link and get yourself there smile.gif

It is mid week though (the tuesday after the August bank holiday) so it would mean getting time off work (unless you are a teacher and are otherwise just lazing around tongue.gif)

BenF isn't just interested - he has signed up!

Should be fun, especially if a group of us from here can make it - thanks for the details, Paul smile.gif

It means I shall have at least one day in the summer that I get up early - and I am doing it voluntarily bleh.gif

mind you the other teacher (who was on the trip I was on last week) and I spotted nearly 100 different species of bird between us wink.gif

these included short-eared owl, merlin, kestrel, buzzard, white tailed eagle and golden eagle

ps you could come on this one as well, Matt!

not really - those were over 4 days

anyway, a twitcher would go a long way out of their way to go and see a single bird they haven't seen before - I will happily make it a day out when I go birdwatching but I am not obsessive about it

I'm definitely not a twitcher, but I enjoyed shooting the birds last year and most of the things learnt trying to snap the flying birds can be applied to the bike racing pictures, at least from a moving target point of view anyway

I wouldn't be too sure Yvonne. They are very good at giving you advice for the basics and the type of settings to use in the classroom session at the start and they are on hand to offer plenty of further advice throughout the day. They normally ask you to take your camera manual with you on the day too so if you are stuck with any of the settings and how to do certain things with the camera, they can help with that too.

Just thought I would add some pictures taken from the course last year. These should help to give you an idea on how close you get to the birds and what sort of shots they set up for you etc. smile.gif

They aren't great amd the quality isn't there to zoom right intot he originals, but I think these smaller versions work relatively well biggrin.gif
