Hi there all!....

The Puma has a small oil leak from around the VCT solenoid and there is a whining noise started when accelerating?

Any ideas on the whining and how to stop the leak from around the solenoid?

Many thanks in advance

James

:good:

leak will be the rocker cover gasket about 30 quid from Ford

regards to the whining, does it whine if you accelerate on the spot in neutral? any difference dipping the clutch etc

Did you top up the oil and then check you had actually put enough in?

The 1.7 hates being out of oil, and hanging off bottom of dipstick is :(
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

Ok..... all this was coming on the phone second hand at work, from my wife as the Puma is her's...

Soooo....

The light was not the oil light... it was in fact her washer fluid light...!...! she has never had one in a car and since she new there was a bit of an oil leak just panicked and thought it was the oil warning light!!

The noise was just the engine heard through paranoid ears as thinking it was out of oil, and it is in fact just the normal sound of the engine, as sweet as it ever has been!!!

Panic over!!

Thank you all for you help and assistance any way!!
