Surprising Heater Problem - Warm On The Left, Cold On The Right ?!

Puma 1998, 1.7 with manual A/C.

Today was the first day with really low temperature this winter. I noticed that the heater blows warm air on the left side of the interior

but cool air on the right side of the interior. Car is left hand drive. Fiddling with the heater controls does not help at all.

I know the heater control valve is likely faulty, but AFAIK that does not explain this problem.

I don't get it how this is even possible - to my knowledge separate heat adjustment should not even be possible on any Puma.

So what's the issue here and how do I fix it? Wife cannot stand the cold air on her side (I'm usually driving when weather is bad) so I have

to fix this very soon.

Thanks for your help!

Is there sh*t in the canals feeding air into your interior perhaps?

The next day, this problem was gone.

It seems to appear and disappear randomly. How does the air flow control work on the Puma anyway? Electric servos on the guide flaps in the heater assembly?

I am inclined to think this problem has to do with the heater control panel functions or the air guide flaps acting up..
