My boot release has been playing up for months. It takes half a dozen presses on the remote before it clicks open - whirring all the time. I had resorted to using the key.

Today I decided to try to sort it. I removed the cover from the back of the boot and sprayed WD40 on all the mechanism - although it all seemed to work freely enough. I pushed the lock down and pressed the button and it flew open - same with the remote. Shut the lid ..... whirrr, whirr, whirr.

It had to be the bolt - couldn't be anything else. I noticed it was not quite straight. Got an allen key and loosened the bolts and moved it up. Tightened it - BINGO - worked a treat. It only needed a slight adjustment - too much and the boot lid stands proud of the wing.

I now have a boot lid that pops up on demand with no whirring. I am a very happy bunny biggrin.gif

It is soooooooooo nice to just press the remote (or the button on car) and have it open!!

I think slamming it shut takes its toll over the years and moves it slightly.

Interesting little find.

I have found that if i press down on the tailgate while it is "whirring" away, it releases, but i will def look at re-positioning the bolt.

Mine did that - it is because the bolt/pin is too high. It only needs moving a fraction.
