As my chances of going on the Nurburgring trip are looking pretty slim I'm looking at doing a trackday at Oulton Park at the end of March.
Just hoping for some tips on doing a trackday....preparation to 348 etc... also looking at taking out insurance but not sure on which company...ive phoned the company which look after my road insurance and got the reply..."what's trackday insurance!!!"
I guess Happykat is pretty knowledgable on this subject....
any help appreciated

don't know abou tknowledgeable but am going to find you a post that has all this info on it
http://www.pumapeople.com/forum/index.php?act=Se...te=%2Btrack+day
conpetition car insurance for track cover, you buy what you need for the day.
You just have a car in tip top mechanical shape, good safe tyres and a sound engine. If you have any niggles on your car, engine wise sort these out first. track driving is very harsh on the car. Plenty of pad material on your brakes, and good brake fluid.
easytrack and bookatrack both have track day tips
what ever you do, listen to the briefing and drive your own line. If there is a nob on track go in for a pit break take your time, learn the track and build on it. If you go out fast it might end in tears. Let the car warm up, your tyres too and your skill.
enjoy
for the day make sure you can empty everything in the car out includig glove box and boot, take with you a foot pump, tyre pressure guage and valve key, and not forgeting take a torque wrench too for your wheel nuts and locking nut key. Take also oil for topping up (if needed I burn around 1/4-1/2 per track day). Suitable clothing that is also confortable to wear, and your most confortable driving shoes. You will need a helmet but for track days all the ones I have been on do accept use of a motorbike helmet. Take insulating tape for taping the lights up. One small roll is plenty.
The morning on the day before make sure you have already adjusted your tyre pressures in readyness plus check the torque on all wheel nuts. Clean all windows inside and out so you can see well
