Dilemma

My son got his uni results today. He has just finished his 3rd year at uni, doing Chemistry. Before he did his exams he had to decide whether to finish after 3 years and get a BSc or do stay on for the 4th year and get an MChem. That was the dilemma.
He was on for a First class BSc, and decided to do the MChem.
He would have got a First as it happens, but because he is doing the 4th year if he does not do as well next year he could end up with a lower class degree and it will never show that he achieved a First in the BSc part.
A bummer really.

With you behind him to help I don't think he'll have too much to worry about.

I wish Yvonne! He might be doing the same degree I did, but things have moved on a bit since I graduated. He is teaching me things now, not the other way round!

Depending on the type of employment he will look for, he may be able to get it into the application form somewhere, or on the cover letter, or mention it in the interview. Some companies will care

I'm sure with the love and support you will give him, he will do his very best. That's all that can be asked of him.
Decisions like this are never easy as they have far reaching effects on the rest of your life.
I hope he does well.
Best wishes

Thanks - whatever happens I know that really all that matters is that he is happy.

My Chemistry expertise consisted of me managing to blow things up in class with things that should and could never blow up!
I'm sure he'll be fine, if he had the minerals to get a first then surely the 4th is knuckle down time and come out smelling of roses?
Maybe you could even go back and do the 4th year Benjamin?
