Argh! Decisions! Help!!!

I'm in the market for a new motor and have had my heart set on a puma for a few weeks now. I'll be honest and say it's a combination of the styling compared with the 'go-kart-like' fun factor that has been attracting me.
However, my girlfriends parents live opposite an MP whome they are very friendly with. This guy I have also met on occasion is a genuinely lovely bloke. He is selling his Focus and getting a Jag.
Anyway, my girlfriend phoned me and told me about the Focus and I said "sure i'll come and take a look". It turns out since he knows me well he is willing to let the car go far below it's actual value. If he didn't sell the car he would be trading it in at Jaguar in which case he would probably only get around 4k for it whereas if he sold it privately he would be looking at Å“5200-6k.
The Focus is as follows:
'02' plate
1.6 Zetec
Black
30k on the clock
Air con, CD player etc...
He has offered it to me for 4k, which is a steal!
It's a lovely car but I can't help feeling it's a little bland for what I wanted. The trouble is it is such a bargain it is hard for me to say no. On top of that I almost feel obliged now since he is a friend etc. Sounds stupid I know. I know I would be happy with the car and financally I would be stupid to turn it down but I know that a Puma would make me smile that much more.
So ladies and gentlemen... Help me decide!!! I want a Puma but the bargain I would be getting with the Focus is hard to ignore. I need opinions, though I am sure they will be a tad biased given that this is a 'Puma' forum.

LOL That has seriously crossed my mind but I couldn't do it. My girlfriend lives opposite the guy and he seriously is one of the nicest people in the world, even though he is an MP! I would feel awful and obviously whatever car I end up getting will be parked outside his house on a regular basis so there is no hiding it.

I went through the same dilema about 3 years ago and went with my head over my heart. I ended up with a Rover 416 (in a lovely shade of turquoise ) and spent 2 years regretting it.
When it finallly died (and i put a lot of effort into ensuring this would happen) i stuck to my original plan and got a Puma. I've now had my kat for 11 months and have enjoyed every minute of it. I've become, as most people on this site are, a bit of a Puma zealot so we probably are all biased, but i still think you should do what you want and not what you should do.
Having said that the focus is a fine handling car but i agree that it's a bit bland in comparison.
Good luck and i hope you make the right decision (you know what i mean )

Jeez... I had no idea that this decision would be so hard to make. Hopefully a few more opinions will help sway me one way or another. My head says Focus but my heart says PUMA!!!
Cheers!

You haven't seen her though. Not even the styling of a Puma can compare to her perfectly formed curves!
If I could plonk a steering wheel on her head and fit her with a set of alloys, I would!

LOL!
Actually the journey is more of a marathon 30 mile jobbie, easily an hour each way. Plus of course i'd have to warm up her engine nicely before. You know... Gotta keep her purring.

Buy the focus. Run it for a couple of weeks while you look at Pumas, sell it, tell Mr MP that it was nicked and written off (if he does see it again, you can say it must have been repaired by garage and sold as a cat D write off or whatever), pocket 2k, buy Puma and tell MP that you were so impressed with his Focus - even though it was a bit big for you - that you've stuck with Ford and bought the Puma because it's just that little bit smaller. You could always hide the Puma round the corner for a few days while you pretend to be looking for a new car before turning up in it. So, you get a Puma, you keep your girlfriend and Mr MP isn't offended. Everyone's happy your. Mr MP will probably feel so sorry for you he'll do you a deal on the Jag when he comes to sell it. Just remember, it's only a bargin if it's cheap and it's what you wanted, otherwise it's just cheap but you'll never be trully happy with it.
I got me drivin ead on today, I av.
