Shake it all about

This is a new one. The other one they wanted stupid money for fitting a custom pulley to it £180!!! so i said stuff it. So i baught this one, its easier to put a pulley onto, and also its smaller. bout 1.5 inches longer than the standard aircon pump so easy peasy to fit. Ganna have the plates with tubular inlets made up asap, and a pulley attached so i can set about mounting it.

Dead chuffed. This was bargain at £150. teflon coated leading edges on the vanes. Brand new 0 miles. From a mercedes kompressor i believe. Same eaton as on a cooper-s except for different inlet/exhaust mountings.

Top man! Keep a tracker of the costs aswell, could be used as a basis if anyone else was to follow you down this route (obviously many variables but still give a realistic price).

Can't wait to see this finished. cool.gif

I take it that you have had to bin the aircon to get this to fit ?

yea, aircon as gone, but it never worked anyway, well not till i droped a quite heavy engine part on the pipe. The heavy engine part, being the engine. And they cost a fortune.

I meant to ask you turby...what kind of psi do you run through your puma. Is it still standard bottom end. A lot of people, obviously far less experienced as you are getting sketchy as to the strength. But i plan to use no where near you.

I think the removal of aircon is going to put a lot off (not that they would actually do it anyway...) can you not retain it somehow ?

Runs 1.2 bar but peaks a little over before the electronic boost control caps it (boost is also limited on gear / speed as well). - I've never configured the PID boost control within the ECU which would stop these transient boost spikes...

And no the bottom end isn't standard, crank is though smile.gif

hmm well im sure the supercharger isnt going to produce as large boost, ill cap it anyway if need be. I thaught you had standard rods, anyway, my bad. Evetually i will look into those anyway.

You could retain aircon if you wanted, but you would have to mount the intercooler somewhere else, but if you had a smaller inlet, like frp, you may be able to fit it underneath there, if you move oil filter. There are widely available kits to extend the drive pulley of the supercharger.

But, im a window man, not aircon. Any excuse to open the windows and here the truly unique pume tone smile.gif

Ive just sorted out ukfn tickets for rs combe this year, ill ask to go next to you lot, and the charger will be in there by then in some form, i promise.

S1600 inlet plenum has come also, and its being fabricated as we speak wink.gif

But for the time being plans are to have a working car fixed LOL

Had you installed the eaton prior to the crash? If so how did the car run? Were there many benefits? and did you require a remap? The supercharger idea has been toying with my mind for a while now so much info will be very much appreciated. smile.gif

Supercharging is definitely the way to go with forced induction!

Rotrex all the way.
378.6bhp @ 6520rpm - with a faulty fuel pump. Hoping for 400+ with a fully-functioning pump.
Rotrex-powered XU10J4RS...currently 340bhp per tonne. Game?

so Shilly, what is you final advice on fitting a supercharger ?

I'm very interested about this modification, as it seems to me that is the cheapest, and perhaps the easiest(?) way to get some more HP, comparing with :
- upgrading the atmospherical engine with jenveys..seems very expansive,
- fitting a turbo..very technical as you have to think about all the hoses that you need

ive just basically worked out how to fit it to the engine and have it run off the fan belt going into the throttle body at the front the ecu wont like it much but an upgrade on the fuel pump and injectors will sort of even out the fueling issues was talking this over with one of my teachers who does motor sport engineering and he said because the charger oil is self contained it will be the cheapest and best way to go all that has to be done is get a pully from the power steering pump to use on the charger make a custom braket to fit the charger in line then its a case of sheet metal housing for the charger outlet to a few samcos to the airflow meter on inlet throttle body then another one for the charger inlet with another samcos to a filter
this supercharger is low boost so should not damage the engine to much
