Can anyone tell me where the 1700 ford engine in the puma came or was developed from. As a prospective new mechanic, I would be interested.
PS like the site, very informative.

I thought it was just the head that was developed by Yamaha and the block is all alloy, all Ford unit?

there's no such thing as an 1700 Puma or Ford engine... the displacement is 1679

If we are being pedantic, than its actually 1679 cc (the cc is actually quite important as Americans might assume its 1679 cubic inches...)

Ultra pedantic, the Puma engine is actually a Ford Diesel unit
And even more interesting, the Lynx is also an engine.
Odd that the Lynx was the prototype name for our beloved cars...
