Put a new pair of these in the rear drums of my car a few days ago, boths sides are shot after 40 miles, the 2nd one causing the wheel to lock up and also ending any chance i had of attending the oulton park open pit day

Seems there is a design flaw in that when you torque up the nut all of the pressure is being applied to the race as when i tightened, the drum became stiff to rotate by hand, and then 40 miles later failiure.

Bought a different set and they seem spot on, drum spins freely when torqued up etc etc

Had the same thing with a previous fiesta... wasted LOTS of time and money on 3rd party bearings (QuintoinHazel).. that lasted a few months only...

fitting Ford items never saw the problem return again.... would never buy motorfactor bearings again..

Although 3rd party bearings are rubbish as per my post, they should last longer then 5 mins lol. Sounds more like they didnt pack the bearing properly, doesnt matter how much they plastered round the sides or in the hub, they need to pack the inside of the bearing with lithium based grease, thers also a technique for this to ensure the grease penetrates.
