Kit Car the official thread

just thought I would start this off now seen as the deposit has been paid on the kit today.
Both myself and my old man had a blast out in the car today, sadly just as passengers, but it was enough to confirm that it's the one we would like to go for.
I'll use this thread to keep people up to date with progress etc. but it isn't planned for delivery until towards the end of November to make sure the garage is definitely completed in time.
It shouldn't hopefully be a huge build as they claim it can be done in about 150 hours max.
We also decided to go for a engine/component package they had available from a donor car too. It might be a bit more pricey, but it saves a lot of hassle trying to find the right donor car and stripping it down to get the parts requried.
Just sticking with the pretty standard engine for now, which although isn't really powerful, it will still make for a nippy car due to the low(ish) weight.
The engine is the 1.6 Zetec SE/Sigma engine which I think is the same as they fitted to the later pumas. Only 100 BHP, but should give almost the same power to weight ratio as something like the previous generation M3 so will be fun to drive.
The biggest problem at the moment is choosing the colour combination of chassis and bodywork.
see the link for the colour chart I am working to (standard RAL numbers for anyone in the know):
Colour chart
at the moment I am thinking about pearl light grey (RAL 9022, near the bottom) for the chassis. they had one in this colour in the factory and it looked rather nice, especially with the pearl finish, but not sure what colour to go with it for the panels. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas, let me know your thoughts. have already ruled out any greens as I don't think it would suit it, but have been thinking about some sort of shade of blue. One of the other ones I thought of was a black chassis with nice bright red bodywork (or the other way around ), but not sure.
Thats all for now.
Can't wait till the end of November now
Paul

I take it you have the colour chart in the flesh rather than choosing off the computer...

I think maybe a burnt orange or brown could look good. I am so tempted to say lilac but I just know you won't choose that

Was tempted with something like the orange, but I think it would look better with a black chassis or a contrast. It would definitely get me noticed lol.
I'm sorry but I don't think I will go down the lilac route. If there is a decent dark purple I might be tempted though for one of the colours

I think I said which one in a different thread, but not at the start of this one lol. it's not that important a detail is it?
It's called the rocket, made by a company called MEV in mansfield
here's a few pics of their demonstrator. I think it looks much better in the flesh, but it gives you an idea of how it looks pretty well
will be making a couple of changes to how they have done theirs, one of which is probably sticking with 15" wheels perhaps instead of hte 18" ones fitted to theirs. POssibly get something nice and lightweight for them, plus rubber will be much cheaper for something sticky

Looks cool though, like a tie fighter without the panels or something. colourwise I have no idea, it is your choice so go for it. Pink and purple would suit you though??

When we went for the quick blast on Saturday I didn't bother. Just kept my glasses on and it was not too bad really. A little bit blustery though lol. For longer, faster runs I would probably take my helmet with me though

Even cycling, a fly in the moosh is sore and unpleasant, don't fancy one at 60!
