I've had a Canon 40D to replace my ageing 300D (not a typo!) but with the season the way it is, it wasn't really possible to do any snapping outside of work hours as I coulnd't find the shoe for my cheapy jessops tripod.

So I got a Manfrotto 190 and a basic three way head instead - and a remote timer. Well, needs must, eh?

So I took the little Puma out to the sticks on a rare sunny afternoon yesterday, and got some snapples.

She sits so nicely:

I prefer it with the sign in the way, but then I'm odd.

One of my favourite hobbies - Valley Hacking. Took a staggeringly long time to expose this, as the sky and far valley were overexposed, car and foreground underexposed. In the end Automagic Witchcraft Mode did a better job than me:

Some attempts at night shots. Forgot I had left the door open! So titled because this is what the car looks like when I have my little mid-thrash ciggy/leg stretch breaks....

Same angle, this time with the aid of a torch and lots of running around like a numpty. Realise now I should have left the exposure settings the same as I'm missing the horizon.

And tonight, along with 100miles of moors backroad thraping (car is now manking :roflmao: ) I gave up trying to find decent light and tried something silly. I think this was a five minute exposure:

Any thoughts? I have a few mates with remote triggered flashguns who are up for a bit of a play in the valleys in the next few weeks, so I might have some more stuff soon.

I don't think Flickr/iPhoto has maintained the EXIF data terribly well

Oh, and bear in mind it's been about four years since I used a camera in anger, patience.

Oh and next time I'll wash the car beforehand, and also not dirty it up by doing standing starts in mud. On a related note, the traction control really is non-existent on Pumas, innit....?

Oh, and finally, all shots were exported to Flickr from RAW files in iPhoto. Not a massive fan of either TBH, going to see if I can grab some space on the works hosted servers, and start using UFRaw/GIMP again so at least I can upload the full quality versions with EXIF info embedded; I think Flickr strips the EXIF unless you pay for Pro.

Flickr strips ALL the EXIF data (and stores it on that pictures Photostream page under Actions >> View Exif info ) regardless of whether you have a free or Pro account.
All the Pros seem to get is the ability to display/download images > 1024x768, the ability to have more than 200 pics accessable at any one time, and the ability to see the URLs/addies of the sites or people looking at their images. <_<

Cheers folks :)

I was going to head out tonight, park the car up in the same local as the above night pics were taken, let it get covered the snap it, but just getting around town was tricky enough, and to get to that spot involes a few 1 in 5 hills, so decided against it.

Bah - would have been a good challenge in terms of getting the white balance right, too. Ah well.

What I hope the Puma will look like once I sort out the stone chips. Will probably involve wetsanding....

And something a bit arty. Or as close as I could manage after two hours of watching a server performance monitor:

Yeah, I cheated and upped the contrast a bit, but I'd already clone-stamped the chips out, so why get prissy? :)

Might be going on a run with an MX-5 and a Suzuki SJ410* at the weekend, should get an excuse to try some group shots.

*I'm not even joking - mate is into freeclimbing and a simple 4x4 is useful for getting to locations for him!
