Hi!
I have recently bought year 2000 1.7 puma. Today on slippery road I noticed, that ABS is not working. When turning ignition on ABS indicator doesn`t even light up, so bahaves airbag and "engine" indicators too. Tried to connect OBD2 reader - led on it doesn`t come up... Is it possible that my Puma have no OBD2 capability? How to find out is there some kind of wiring problem or it is not available at all?

Missing Abs, Airbag And "check Engine" Lights

Hi
The ABS will only kick in on breaking not just driving along even if the road is slipery.
When you start the car at about 15mph do you hear a slight grind noise?
This would be the ABS self check which is routine.
Do you have the digital dash on your Puma?
If so a ODBC reader should probably work, it might be your reader rather then the car.
Areed you saying the airbag and engine light are on all the time?

I think the ABS has a fault and the previous owner has removed the lights in the dash!
Search on here, you are not the first person with this problem, I don't think it is too hard to get the clocks out to check

Both the ABS and airbag lamps should come on when you switch on the ignition - basically this is when teh systems are doing a self test. If the tests pass then the lights will go out. Lamp staying lit indicates a failure in the system. Technically an observant MOT tester will fail the car if these bulbs dont light up and then go out.

Thanks for answers, will try to remove dashboard to see what was done to lights. Is it possible for Ford vehicles to do VIN check to find out exactly what was fited to car? (for example for BMW it is possible).

When I brake on ice, wheels just blocks - it`s clear that if ABS was fitted to car, it doesn`t work anymore.
I have digital odometer on my Puma. Tested both OBD readers I have on wifes Audi and fathers Ford Focus - both works. Unfortunatly seems that something is wrong with my Pumas diagnostic port. Does it have dedicated fuse?
I wanted to say that I have no airbag, abs and engine lights at all
When I turn on ignition only oil pressure, battery charging and hand brakes lights comes on. I guess someone removed other lights to hide problems

Yes you can check on Ford service website what car had, however UK 1.7 all had ABS and drivers airbag

Found out that my Puma had ABS, drivers Airbag and some more usefull things which distinguished by time...
