Having just picked one up I thought I would share that it is a surprisingly good device.
I got that stonking Carphone Warehouse price by ringing my local store who had the 32Gb on the shelf as they have sold out online.
Having setup and used an iPad mini I can say that this is not a let down, it is really well made and nice to hold, very light and the screen is not a dissapointment.
Graham helped answer a few Q I had too, which was a welcome bonus.

So glad your not disappointed with it Kate.
Once you have Nexus Media Importer from Google Play / Android Market and a Micro USB to female USB lead you can add up to 64 Gb external too.

I have "Torque" installed on mine, but haven't paired it with the FRP yet.

Case, screen protector and OTG lead on order :) I expect I will use the lead the most for direct camera pic transfer while on holiday.
Still adding my apps that I purchased before and setting up how I want and it just finished the first 100% charge.

Great bit of kit - better capacity (and cheaper!) than the iPad Mini. Far more customisable as well.

I have not felt the need to root my Nexus yet. My Desire phone I did and with a custom ROM but the Nexus does not shout that it needs it.
Very happy with my choice and the 10 inch one knocks the socks off Apple for ppi 300 no less, the iPad 4 is 264ppi.
fireFox is the best browser on it so far too.
Just need to sort out the Flash as thought I could manage but hit a site today that needed it.

Iplayer won't install on my current version on Android Jellybean, but tvcatchup works well.

I went for this case.

I am running iPlayer fine and I am fully updated.
Do need to download the BBC iPlayer app though, it has some better features on it.
Case sorted I have gone for a zip neoprene punch with screen protector.

Have found that iplayer works best through FireFox (in desktop mode) direct from the BBC website get good quaility stream. If use it through iplayer app the phony tweak is for a lower resolution device I think. Roll on BBC getting a proper install sorted.
New toy for this is a Sega Megadrive emulator and original Sega games, the Roms can be found on the internet. Playing Toe jam and Earl and Sonic for example.
So far have not found anything to dislike about this tablet.
Have only just had in my hand to compare an iPad 2 an iPad mini directly alongside the Nexus 7.
In order of screen quality it goes best is Nexus then iPad 2 and then Mini.
The Nexus has the most touch responsive screen and the most vibrant colours.
The only two areas the mini was better was portrayng orange (came out slightly more vivid) and when looking at a white book the white was whiter.
But for general colour enjoyment I was suprised that the reality the Nexus was the most vibrant coloured screen.
However all three are great tablets for their own merits.
I do like the expandability of the Nexus with the micro port on the bottom I have even found a micro USB to HDMI adaptor.
