Just phoned Ric Wood in Stockport, asking him for a price of a custom map on a dreamscience and he said around £600! ohmy.gif That doesn't include the kt itself.

Is this right?
Even at £100 an hour thats 6 hours work?!

How much are other people paying? I was guessing that it wouldn't be more than about £50 to put a new custom map on it! lol

Since posting here I have learned that I got my wires crossed between a "stratagem" and a custom map.
The stratagems supplied by the dreamscience dealers cost £40-£50, and uses prior experiences to ensure a suitable map...a custom map is a little more complex and requires tuning on the rolling road.
I still think £600 is extortionate though!!!

Well then what are you asking about then?

Do you want a 'New' custom map for you car because you have added mods?

Surely you can do it yourself?

I doubt it'd cost £600 for a company to do it for you especially if you have all the kit already.

This is an old thread, since 18th August I've bought the dreamscience and had Pumabuild put a map on it "estimating" what would be best for my car.

"I doubt it'd cost £600 for a company to do it for you especially if you have all the kit already. "
is exaclty the point I was making from this thread...couldn't believe the cost! ohmy.gif That was at Ric Wood not including the unit.

Ah right i see. I thought the date was 28th Aug not 18th biggrin.gif

So how have you found the Dream Science then? Is there another thread detailing what's what?

i.e what mods you have, dyno results etc etc?

Not specifically another thread really, just a select few relating to different related things.
I have 4-2-1 back, and previously had an FRP re-map.
Compared to the FRP map I can say the dreamscience is a HUGE improvement!...it rev's so easily and alot quicker...
Had a rolling road done 2 days before dreamscience, and my other thread highlights my results of that.
My head tells me to get a re-dyno ASAP to see the difference dreamscience has made, however I am that happy with the results I don't want to be dissapointed with say a 1hp improvement. At the moment it has made a huge positive difference and I'm enjoying that biggrin.gif

I found the FRP map to make the car run lean, confirmed by the dyno run, the guy said it "sounded lean", and the fact that my spark plugs were showing signs of running lean.
The 3000 unit allows you to data-log, which has allowed me to see that the fueling is spot on now!

I also think that the car pulls better in 1st, I'm still not convinced that the FRP map has no 1st gear torque limiter?!

Next tank-full will be Optimax to see the difference that can make biggrin.gif

Bought the unit used off here with 4 "lives" left.
Then got it mapped at Pumabuild who have put 3 maps on for £50.
A performance one; for everyday driving.
A motorway one for increased performance between 60 and 80.
And one that will make the car run really hot giving me a good chance of passing emissions with no CAT...

I was previously borderline, but that could have been due to the underfueling. If I can pass MOT with no CAT the unit has then paid for itself.

To DIY maps you need the kit, which is £900 I belive volcomstone411 has this, although I'm not sure how he's getting on smile.gif

Ah right i see.

Looks like PumaBuild will be getting a few quid then. I just hope its good quality work.

I've always had 'Hit & Miss' with both PumaBuild & PumaSpeed rolleyes.gif

I'd have :-

- Normal Driving Map - Poodling around town and to work and back
- Performance - When i want to give it a few beans
- Race - When i'm going hell for leather!

Think you will find Rik charges a days work because it is done properly...

They are a tuning centre, not a repair garage.

Sorry, but having been ripped off badly ( I wont embarass myself buy showing how much, but think 5 figures and you wont be far wrong ) by so called tuners, finding someone that knows their onions and does mapping properly is all important.

But, if you are happy with the work done at PB then thats great biggrin.gif

Ouch !

I've only been done for £200 paying cash to a scrappie who promised to send panels later and never did. If I'd known he was going to do that I'd have nicked more trim bits...

Although Rik apparently does do good work is it still worth £600 on top of the £450 you pay for the DreamScience itself?

A whole day spent mapping your car?

Would i be 100% satisfied with his work?
