Bought the car at 5,000 miles with one previous ford management owner, so almost had it from new - 125,000 miles on the clock now.
Must admit its been a good fun 8 years of driving, getting lots of envious looks from chavs, pedestrians and regular puma owners - and of course the rare occurrence and shock of seeing another FRP coming opposite direction with an equally surprised look on their face.... Still can't fault it for it's looks or handling, really didnt want to let it go but 55 miles a day commuting and a long distance relationship has been taking its toll on my 37 year old frame and on the car itself.
Had to have a new cat put on few months ago, 4 new tyres, new heater valve, new electric window all this year. New discs and pads all round last year, new TPS, ICV, and issues with overheating, stalling...ABS light has just started coming on and the heater still seems a bit random. The drivers seat has a worn patch, the front is stonechipped badly despite having bumper respray at 50k. all detracting from the "joy of ownership". Sad really, but it has to go.
Anyway reason for post, just to give people a heads up and if anyone knows someone who is looking for an FRP which needs a little bit of TLC then let them or me know. Got a private plate on the car at the moment so I'm going to get that transferred off, and give the car a good valet, tidy, paint treatment and polish before putting it up for sale after xmas. MOT til Sept 2010 and Tax til end March.
Went out and bought a 2007 Seat Leon TDi FR last week... Loving it so far but missing the go-kart handling of the FRP. Oh well at least it has "FR" in its name to remind me of the FRP
Oh forgot to add - what do people think is a fair price? I'm thinking £3800 seeing as it needs a little bit of work.
