Im off to shout at the yanks for 5 hours...

Have fun folks biggrin.gif

Should have the finalised image ready in a couple of days, but I left the model release forms on the printer, so will be a couple of weeks before I can publish on here.

But all agreed in principal so shouldnt take long to resolve biggrin.gif

I agree with Mikey, Jess looks a biit too solid other than when she's directly in front of the chair.

It sounds like it's too late, but would a background with a slight pattern to it help the subject look more "ghostly?"

Well.

Final image done, taken on board much of what has been said, and tweaked it.

Just got to wait for the release's to be completed before i can host it.

It kinda looks intriguing as the back of the chair being quite strongly lit which makes it appear to be in front of the model...well that's how I see it anyway.

Also I can't quite see whether the subject is meant to be leaving an impression on the seat cushion...now if you could somehow make an impression in the cushion (maybe use a cushion shaped beanbag of exact same dimensions as the existing cushion?) but without the model being on it, that would give a very convincing ghost effect! Obviously not leaving too much of an impression as that might suggest an 'over-heavy' model tongue.gif

Love the floor detail and texture BTW cool.gif

If a ghost would leave no impression on the chair, why does it need a chair in the first place? tongue.gif

Final draft image.

I know its not to some people liking, the images being headless, but that was part of the brief for the project.

Title : "Shadows"

Number of model cut from 6 to 4 to balance the image slightly - 6 made it just too long.

Comments please before I finalise for print.

Interesting.

Why is the chair "coloured?"

I bet it would be too long with six images. I assume it's designed to be displayed as the five together?

Initially the concept was based on 8 models, forming a 3 x 3 grid.

However, one was delayed in New York, the other was ill so ended up with 6.

The chair is in colour, as that is "today", where as the other images are B&W to express the past.

I'm afraid I'm in the not too keen on the headless images, mainly because on the far left and right images some of the ghosts' hair is visible which to me seems a bit out of place. I guess it's too tricky now to remove though.

I agree about the number of images being right given the issue of the other two models not making it.

The only other thing I'm not too keen on is due to the black background and the angle of the view which give the darker stripe across their legs. perhaps if the background had had a slight pattern to it (similar to what dan mentioned previously) it may have reduced this effect a bit. in a similar way the two images on the right have a slight part of the chair leg behind them which gives a hightlight on their left lag (as you look at it)

sounds like I'm trying to pull it to bits now which isn't the case lol

If it fulfils the brief though, well done smile.gif

Paul,

If I had not wanted it pulling to bits, I wouldn't have posted it biggrin.gif

I'd rather have you do that as I said earlier.

Pull no punches, and say how you feel, even if artistically it differs, every comment made will be looked at and logged for the next shoot.

Lessons learnt from this one.

1. Background - This is a black velvet curtain which absorbs virtually all light - great for many shots, but perhaps not for this one.

2. Lighting - maybe have two frontal lights rather than a single front and a hair light

3. Dont take one shot of empty chair, then the multiple model shots, they will invariably move the chair!!!!!!!

4. Ensure that you have worked out how to use mirror lock up BEFORE you go to the shoot wink.gif

All in all, came away from the exercise knowing more than when I started

( NB ) the image looks better full size, but given thats close on 5m wide I dont think I can get it printed wink.gif )

have to admit I don't really 'get it'..... the headlessness doesn't bother me but I agree with Paul that the hair down the shoulders and the dark stripe across the legs is a bit distracting.....

I'd also agree that it would probably have looked better with a different background - to me it looks too dark and I don't think that helps the striping!

I guess it looks different when it's 5m across tho, lol..... so many pics look so much better when they're the size they're supposed to be!
