I'm toying with changing my headlights to these. Halfords earn a small fortune from me in their ultra brilliance bulbs (particularly on my Alfa). I'm after them for their ability to light the road not really looks. My wife often gets various demonstrators from various manufacturers and when they have Xenon's fitted the difference is huge. I'm starting to get on now 44 soon aggghhhh so the old eyesight isn't improving funnily enough LOL !
Any suggestions or experiences would be appreciated.

Hi,

Definitely get it done they're not expensive and improve the car by producing more light, which is needed especially on those country roads at night.

Hids though are illegal in the UK for the Puma headlights.
There are several immediate things you can try, polish the outer lens. Clean the inside, Correct alignment. Decent bulbs. These all help.

if you get stopped by the police they really know there stuff and if they do they will advise you to remove them how many would actually know they are illegal for puma headlights I've had mines in for nearly 6 years not been stopped once.

PumaPoeple has a duty of care to ensure that its members do not do anything which is illegal or which would otherwise endanger them. Pursuant to this, discussion of matters which contravene Road Traffic Act and other acts of law are discouraged.
Which is why I posted as I had.

would prefer to spend the money on new lenses personally and restore the original quality back ... no one had a problem with the puma lights when the cars were new..

Do you remember what yours are called, or where you got them from?

This is to give you an idea of hid hb3 9005 ford the puma link I'd go for the 6000k as it's pure white not a fan of the tinted blue there is different shades 6000k is my preference

My Mondeo has had HID's since I got it 4 years ago and always passed MOT, the tester is switched on and his concerns are beam pattern and colour of light, the fact they are HID's, well that seems to be at the discretion of the tester. Mine are 5000k, had the same in my Puma and they made a massive difference to lighting performance more than new headlights, uprated bulbs which i tried first.

Absolutely go for it. Changed our puma headlights to HID 6000K because frankly it was dangerous driving at night with the poor Ford standard lights on the puma. I can't begin to tell you the difference. Think daylight. I went for the 55w HID kit which is 400% brighter than halogens. The 35w are 300%.
Must admit I was worried about the cheap kits on eBay etc so went mid range and still had a problem with one ballast but the company changed it twice free of charge and so far so good.
They don't dazzle as you would expect but produce a very clean intense light with just a small shadow in the beam pattern which you soon get used too.
Couldn't recommend it enough mate

Superb, could I be so cheeky to ask where you got them and how much you paid? I too would rather pay more for a superior product.

Poor light can also be caused by bad wires or connectors. I could feel that the bulb connectors on my headlights got really warm (which means that there is too much resistance in them) so I changed them to these:

It made a huge difference!

Best regards,

Jacob
