some lovely shots, Matt

I've got one of those filters, too wink.gif
(it is the only one I use really, apart from UV to protect the front lens element)

Do you mean the "plagarism filter"?

nah - the one that deals with reflections and blue skies wink.gif

btw - is plagarism a photo-editing technique? wink.gif wink.gif
(I need to live up to my reputation, though I would rather have caught Jessie than you, having suffered at her hands this morning!)

Ah in that case, no filters were used in the making of these images.

Straight from camera, bunged through Lightroom, and a minor bit of tweaking in CS4 for sharpening.

Una Stubbs image has been contrasted about abit to create a "Technicolour" effect in fitting with the homage to a cheesey 1960's road movie wink.gif

The sky in SA really is that vivid!

Really impressive pictures there Matt. Loving the colours in the second one and the last two. Also some lovely detail in the two animal pictures too.

Not jealous at all smile.gif

wow - I had to use a polarising filter to get the detail in the sky here, and the colours of the buildings:

Thats a lovely shot - You really cant beat the Eastern Europeans for the gaiety ( proper use of the word before any bright spark chips in tongue.gif ) of their architecture. And captured beautifully smile.gif

Some very nice skies there; strong colours. Almost a hint of, whaddya call it? - Lomo? The lion's fantastic, too.

Lion was just amazing being that close.

However the highlight was being mounted by a cheetah! When those buggers get their paws around your waist, you tend not to complain about having a headache wink.gif

Matt/Jessie

I am confused. You both have similar shots of the railway lines - one with some litter and a cute sky; the other has no litter and a spectacular deep blue sky and great reflections off the lines themselves. (Hence my initial thought that Matt had used a polarising filter.)

If no filters were used, how come the difference?

Difference is Jess was shooting with filter IIRC.

Secondly, she is currently shooting jpg mainly in auto whilst she gets used to the camera.

In the main I'm using manual and raw, but most importantly, I don't rely on AWB, each batch of shots, even if in same place and only an hour apart, the white balance is recalculated. Allows greater control of the exposure, thats all.

Sensors are both Sony.
