Following a few months hardship with the FRP, due to erratic idling cutting out at junctions, etc... I bit the bullet and phoned Tony from Pumaspeed yesterday. I advised him off my car troubles and agreed with myself that the best option was to buy the lambda/Hego sensor and the TPS (throttle position sensor). Last week I purchased the idle control valve and to no avail I was left with same faults. To my understanding, to buy all 3 sensors will inevitably cure the problems. Pumaspeed consignment arrived first thing this morning (Cheers Tony) and I opened to find 2 non genuine Ford parts! I thought this was strange as I assumed I would be receiving the real deal. Both parts had strange buffing marks where the part no's are enscribed like they are hiding the real manufacturers of parts (ie could say Mazda as a shared component of the 121)..

Fitted parts first thing this morning (because I needed car for work in the afternoon) then drove 6 miles which involved varying speeds to try out parts and was smiling ear to ear - shouting "I have my Puma back!" Drove to my work and then car went from working perfectly to running like a bag of s***e! When I arrived at work I phoned Tony and told him of my problems and he suggested that the Lambda sensor had packed in and couldn't refund or replace product. I had only driven 12 miles in total!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am absolutely GUTTED. I persevered with car for about 2 months prior to this and saved up £150 in order to buy these parts.

What should I do?

Cheers Ally

Sounds just like a crap e-bay transaction. rolleyes.gif

Get on the phone and tell them you will not accept excuses, bearing
in mind 'diagnosis by telephone' is not always the best way to go.

Good luck.

Take the car to another ford friendly garage, and ask them 2 questions;

1) Are the parts fitted correctly?
2) Are the parts now faulty?

It is really important to confirm that they have been fitted correctly as this solves a major arguement before it strarts. If the parts are then faulty, the seller has to replace them under the distance selling act, and the sale of goods act as they are not fit for the purpose which they are sold for.

Go back to Pumaspeed and tell them what you are going to do. Give them the option of replacing the parts now, or having to cover the cost of the second garage checking the car over.

For the record though- this is the first thread in a long time where someone has been unhappy with the service or parts desk at Pumaspeed... It's normally the other lot

Phone Pumaspeed today and spoke to Tony again who confirmed thats parts where genuine ford parts but for legal reason had to get the ford name/emblem removed as it is coming from a wholesaler. I don't want to mock the Pumaspeed name and feel they find themselves in an unfortunate position selling a faulty part that has nothing to do with there workmanship or service, but on the other hand its how they rectify the problem. I asked if a comprimise could be made on the part which Tony said he is going to contact his supplier. Just playing the waiting game now. cheers for comments. Ally

I havent been on pumapeople for a while so haven't updated this topic.

The following day after I posted my last comment Tony from Pumaspeed had sent a brand new Lambda sensor first class and only asked me to send faulty part back. Another first class service that was rectified quickly in an unfortunate circumstances for both parties. Thanks again Pumaspeed for your invaluable professional services that we would all be lost without. Cheers Ally

that is a complete load of crap. I have purchased genuine Ford items from other wholesalers all with the Ford logo and parts numbers still readable.

I bought a set of Eibach springs from Pumaspeed last year that they had got from Daverntry and they still had the Ford sticker clearly displayed.

The fact that it has been removed is very suspect to me, wouldnt be surprised if they are not genuine Ford parts, take them to a Ford garage and they would be able to tell you if they are.
