Love It But Hate It!

I have been thinking of changing my car but after looking around it appears almost impossible to find a car with reasonable insurance, good performance, good economy, good looks, drives like a dream and a car all the crtics love - like the Puma.
Most cars I have looked at ie hot hatches just seem like normal models with big alloys - some how they just don't seem special enough. They might drive great but normally at the expense of a higher insurance group and general running costs.Take a Civic Type R (no offence to anyone on here who has one) It may go like a rocket but it will always be a 3 door hatchback on 17" alloys - and when someone asks what you drive,a Honda Civic doesn't exactly set the room a buzz.
Don't get me wrong the CTR is a great car and there are lots of other cars like it in the same category (Focus ST170,Corolla T Sport,Clio 172 etc) but for me driving a Puma coupe seems just abit special without the need for huge alloys or mind blowing 0-60 times.

I love saying "I drive a Focus". It's fan-bloody-tastic that no ones says "Ohh, that's a flash car!" or suchlike afterwards. I never mention which model Focus, though.

Have you thought about the new St150 fiesta .
Pumas are a very ahead of their time car .
I'd sooner have my cav t but that's me .

I know your dilemma, i'm on my 3rd Puma since 1998, and i could not find another car that came close.
So i'm keeping my Kat as long as possible, with no expense spared.
Until Ford, or someone else make a decent replacement'
I'm not holding my breath on that either.

Hi there,
I had a big headache when it came to changing the Puma.
I looked at loads of cars but in the end went for the CTR and I have to say it is the best car Ive ever driven.
Although the CTR doesnt quite match the Puma on B road twisties it is all in all an awsome car.
You mentioned about the insurance group being 17, well Im 35 with 5 yrs NCB and Im paying ?550 a year..not bad at all
Just like the Puma the best thing about the CTR is its engine, totally amazing!
If I had the means Id have both
Nick

What about roadsters or other small coupes? Mazda MX-5s, Toyota Celicas - that sort of thing?
Not your average hatchback look, performance isn't bad and they don't cost a bomb.

Honda Integra Type R Both DC2 and DC5 variants a good replacement proposition for the Puma, only problem is insurance. Agree with your comments on the CTR as I have one, still miss the way my puma made every drive a special one
After all speed isn't everything is it.

Oh yes, DC5 love them to bits but group 20 insurance is a killer for someone as youthful as me . Went for a CTR and kept the Puma so best of both worlds.
The fact that my CTR has been in my garage and not driven for over a week whilst I drive the new Puma says an awful lot about how good the Puma still is
