I have asked about tyres before & am grateful to anyone who has replied but I wondered if someone could tell me what would happen if i ran the tyres with the 50 profile i.e. can i get away with them for a while until i can buy the 45s? I was trying to find that out. Still thanks all for the replies ive already had & can anyone venture an answer to how the 50s might fare temporarily? Hope no one minds

They'll be ok but your speedo will be reading slower than your travelling so you need to be weary of your speed.

NP
FYI. @ 30 on your clocks you'll be doing 32
and @ 60 on your clocks you'll be doing 64.
Not that bad as your clocks are fast anyway so you'll probably be doing the 'exact' speed. Get a satnav and you'll know either way.

lol, yes but I wouldn't have thought you'd notice much unless you normally 'race' a mate and he can now beat you...lol
About 6% slower so not a vast amount.

What's the rim width?
The Haynes Fiesta Manual (3397) can answer a lot of your questions.

What is your motivation for fitting 16's? If purely cosmetic you might be better sticking with 15's. I only went to 16's to clear my brakes.
What is wrong with your 15's, are the tyres any good on those? If so, I would suggest running the 15's until you can afford new tyres for the 16's. If the tyres on the 16's are any good, you might be able to flog them on eBay to help fund the right size tyres.

i dont like the originals that much personally and think the 16s look great. the 15s the tyres might only have a year or so left. I was thinking along those lines re ebaying the one's on there atm & using to proceeds to get the 45s...

Sheesh, people are trying to confuse the arse off you chopra. Please guys, stop adding other 'theories' to this thread!!
Chopra?....Try fitting the wheels, make sure they're not catching the arches or suspension (take it for a little test drive round the block and turn the wheels lock to lock while moving forward slowly. If you hear no rubbing and they aren't catching the suspension arms your ok. Then as soon as you have the cash for the new tyres fit them.
The ONLY problem I see you having is the change in the speedo reading and a 'slight' loss in acceleration, but then how many times do you 'charge' off the traffic lights?..not often I'm guessing now that it's the winter period.
So, try the wheels and let us know how they are. Only takes about half an hour to change all 4 so not time consuming to find out. Toodles

No, I was talking about the width between the flanges on the wheel.
For example, my 15 spoke Thunder wheels are 6J (6") and this will dictate what the best width of tyre is. So the 195 (mm) width tyre is best for this size.
If you have, say, 7J (7") wide rims, then you can fit a tyre wider than 195.

I got mine off ebay, I only bought them for the tyres, they had 4 BRAND new 195/45/16's Toyo's and I paid £155 for them. I got a bonus in that the wheels look bloody smart aswell (IMO-they are on my avatar or a better pic in the gallery). So, if you keep a look out, the same as I did, you may come up trums too.
