I´m refurbishing my Puma´s OE Ford wishbones (I bought few years ago cheap aftermarket ones, now I´m glad I did not throw away original parts...).

I have already ordered uprated 1042691 rear bushes from local Ford parts dealer and bought hopefully good quality german made Ruville ball joints. Now i´m going to buy front bushes. But which ones? OE parts or Powerflex? Is it true that only Powerflex poly bushes that are good for everyday street use are those wishbone front bushes? They are quite expensive, are they worth the price?

The small Powerflex bush that goes at the front of the lower arm is quite a nice fit...i'd say they are worth the money personally...

I've got Powerflex for the front wishbone bushes and uprated (FRP) for the rear (I took out the Powerflex rear as too harsh). Also have Powerflex roll-bar bushes.

The 3 nuts on the ball-joints to wishbones should be 40 Nm.

The Haynes Fiesta Manual (3397) can answer a lot of your questions.

I just ordered a pair of those Powerflex bushes (PFF19-701). I don´t understand why they cost so much, about 50 €/40 GBP. OE rubber bushes cost only 5 €... Is it the manufacturing process or the material itself which makes them so expensive? Or is the lack of competition the only reason for this kind of pricing? Just wondering... Anyway, soon i´ll have all parts needed to build "new" wishbones.

Hi,

Can someone tell me if the bush is the same for all years of puma, I have a 2002 puma, will one listed for a 97-00 puma fit?

The two options are 97-00 or 98-02. The 98-02 costs 3 times the price of the 97-00 ones!

Cheers

Edit - These are the ones I am looking at - http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4a984eb947

ive just priced up some oe wishbones at my local ford dealers .std ones £58.96 retail each .and uprated ones are ? £103.53 retail each bargain i would say wondering in what way are they uprated over std as this has got to be realy good option over rebushing std ones and oe uprated ford rear beam axle bushes are £30 a pair less discount std ones are £24 a pair.

Ford will only list one type of arm/bush setup for your car... can't think what that guy was trying to sell you at all... unless he was qouting pattern part against ford part.. which sounds most likely as ford parts desk can supply either...
