Last year I was sent a book through the post, called Puma - The Inside Story.

The covering letter says that it is a limited edition commemorative book. If it is a limited edition book, I wondered if anyone knows who received a copy (apart from me!) and how they were selected? It is a Ford publication and is really quite a nice book.

Did any other pumapeeps member get one?

Incidentally, it was through the covering letter that I found out about the pp website - shame it took me over a year between getting the book and actually accessing the site for the first time!

They were initialy sent to new puma owners, now they have become a collectors item, take a look at ebay, the prices vary from £20 - £40 sometimes more.

So keep hold of yours with the letter and packaging. cool2.gif

Ford sent out quite a few nice bits to original puma owners, the inside story was the last one I think.

I've also got a load of little puma magazines that came in silver foil envelopes, a CD with the music from the advert, and the cool puma gear knob key ring.

Personally I can't understand why they sell for so much on ebay - they're an interesting read, but £20 is a lot for something you'll read once or twice then put back on ebay!

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand - strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO -What a Ride!:D

£40 ? I hope you get it. Not seen them go quite that high for a while.

Why not set a reserve at £40 and start with a lower price?

Do a search Del, on, "inside story puma", and set to completed items? £45 the other day, and remember I sold two the other week for £46 and £45 respectively  Bargain this week :!:

Yeah but auction items tend to sell at a higher price when more people are bidding against each other, and that happens when you have a lower start price because more people are watching the auction.

Cannot argue with you on that. But a few bidders have been outbid recently at the end, and this way, I thought they get a chance to snap one up. If it sells, it sells, if not, no great loss

The Ford dealer were sent a copy of the book and as my dad is a Ford dealer it has been added to my collection!! My dad has kept various books he has gained from his job including original manual from Jaguars, Austin Healey etc. He has been getting £40+ for them, and as he is a tight beggar he is very chuffed biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I was dead chuffed when I got mine. I got one of the last Pumas ('02 reg). I was looking out for a Puma Thunder, but couldn't find any new ones still for sale. Ended up getting an ex-showroom model instead. Never expected anything else - what more can you expect with a Puma? smile.gif - but I got the book through the post a few weeks later.

Sweet.

got the book a few weeks later? I had to wait 6 months! You were lucky!

Mind you I think if you had looked round more you would have found Thunders around. I got one as a 52 plate, and the dealer where I got it from had about 3 more - all new.

I know sad.gif I was quite gutted sad.gif

I made the mistake of phoning only 1 or 2 dealers... I thought (stupidly, as it turns out) that are dealers were part of a network. It didn't occur to me that they might be competing with each other for business... Each dealer told me that they couldn't get any more Thunders. I assumed that would be same for all dealers. D'oh!! Ah well - the only thing really missing from mine is the leather seats - the rest of the spec is the same. I was quite taken by the idea of the special colour that was reserved for Thunders though. That would have ruled.

But yep - the book was only a few weeks later. I'm not sure, but I think I got the last Drivers Club magazine, too.

Worry not - my Thunder is not the darker silver (was it called Magnum?) but the Moondust Silver. Ford made 1000 in each colour, and although there is soomething nice about getting the special edition colour I actually prefer the standard silver. As for the leather seats, I have never had leather before and quite frankly wonder whether the extra cost to have the leather is worth it. If you are happy with what you have, that is the main thing
