Gear Ratio Options For Puma Rally Car

Possibly looking at the idea of converting a Puma into a stage rally car, but have been considering gear ratios. The car is a 1.7 at the moment, and totally standard, so the 1.7 box is an option. It may end up with a 1.6 engine however. Either way, it would be fairly standard initially, but possibly upgraded in the future into something quite revvy.
What box options are there? I've had a search but struggled to find definitive answers really. Does anyone have access to all the ratios for the various standard Fiesta/Puma boxes? I've heard the FRP has a lower final drive than the standard 1.7? Possibly the same as the Fiesta Zetec-S?
Does anyone have any experience of rallying these cars, that could advise on gear ratios? Unfortunately the budget wouldn't stretch to aftermarket gear kits initially at least, so need to work with the standard options to get the best box. Final drives and things can be swapped around I assume, so perhaps the 1.7 box could be used with a lower final drive. Or there may be other options?
All suggestions welcome!

IMHO, I would try to find a FRP box with viscous LSD already fitted.
Ultimately you'll be looking for Quaife IB5 gearkit with much lower final drive and suitable LSD, the ratio of which will have to be worked out using your max engine revs / realistic top speed. Are you rallying on asphalt or loose ? as this makes a difference to what LSD you ideally want.
I'd also put a 1600 Zetec-SE in as well so you are in a sensible class rather than against Mk2 Escorts with 2 litre BDG's or Vauxhall red-tops...

FRP box would be nice, but wasn't there only 80 LSD boxes? So not ever so common. Car would be for asphalt predominantly. Obviously a proper gearset would be good eventually, but not at first. Plenty of time for that.
1600 engine would make sense for a few reasons. Being super-competitive isn't top priority, as it's just a bit of fun really, but changes to improve pace could be made as time went on.

We got a std 1.7 gearset and it work ok at the moment. We did talk about a 1.6 whit final gear build whit 1.7 gears, but dont have the guts to take a gearset apart. Didt a small test whit 1.25 and that was also ok. (we spent a lot on a Gripper diff, lovely diff )

Using a 5.08 would reduce this to 115 mph.

Fitting the Quaife gear kit replaces all the gears / shafts in the gearbox, you still use the standard selectors / hubs and synchros. Don't loose any of the small locking ball bearings when you take it apart
