Has anyone got any tips on getting the engine cover screws out. Got the correct size allen key in but the buggers are not shifting, any of them.<br style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Gonna give it a good run tomorrow to warm everything up and try again. If that don't work the only thing I can think of is to drill em out and get some new ones Posted Image

make sure they're cold... they don't come out often when the head is hot....

if not bang a torx bit in there and turn it out and replace... think it's a t27 that works well..

hi nott..
Ive come accross this a couple of times.
Thankfully Ford made the screws with a nice chunky head.
So they can be knocked loose using a small chisel or punch (on one side to un-do them)
dont wreck a torx bit if you dont have to..

Thanks for the advice chapsPosted Image
I hadn't actually rounded them off so a T25 went in ok (without damaging it). They weren't siezed up, just tightened up by a gorilla I think Posted Image

I think its something to do with the different metals, they grip like mad.
plus its often many years between removal, so they get baked in!
glad you got them free Posted Image

Here's why I wanted to get em out...I'm not responsible for painting it, just the cleaning and polishing Posted Image

It was on the car when I bought it. Looks like quite a few years since it was done but whoever painted it made a good job of it..
It was a bit grubby so I took it off and spent a bit of time polishing it up.

Hi Jamie
I assume you mean the cover screws, they are the original ones, very little damage and they can now be removed with a Torx bit Posted Image
