yeh, i'd say getting a smaller socket, or "persuading" it in an anticlockwise direction with a hammer/chisel just be very careful!

This has happened to me before on an older zetec (the original escort zetecs) I ended up using a hammer and chisel to burst it off. not cool!

Good luck!

I had this once and I used a larger pair of stilsons to get it out. A new one is a couple of quid, make sure you get a good one from the dealer.

Ive got the exact same problem. As I am putting the car in for a new cambelt I will get the garage to do the Oil and filter at the same time as they should have something to get the nut off with.

Failing that I do have a pump with a hose that goes down the dipstick tube, so could draw the oil out this way. But I would rather be able to drain it via the sump nut hole.
I may be getting older but my right foot still works perfectly.
