Following on from Colin's earlier post, some ex-Puma Cup cars do pop up for sale from time to time. This one's from last October on a German site motorsportmarkt.de.

Year: 1999

Price: 8,900 Euro (£7137)

Description: Sale because of task of hobby! Only 2000 km run, everything since employment year 2000 orginal still verblombt (engine, transmission). Stack of instruments, lifting system, fire extinguishing system, car passport and all documents.

As much I would love to own a pukka Puma Cup car like this, the hassle of buying in Germany, importing it, then converting it to UK road going spec would be too much. sad.gif Also, given some of the above pictures, I imagine many of these cars have seen much 'action' over the years, so I'd rather buy a cheap 1.7 road car and convert it to track spec. A £1500 Puma, with £5.5K of mods would give that Puma Cup a run for it's money, then so would a similarly priced FRP. wink.gif

Excellent Chris!
And shame on me, for not doing it myself.

I'm sorry, but I don't have that many pictures or any video myself.
But I'll look for it...

Meantime, if you need any info about the drivetrain being used, I'd be more than glad to assist you on this.
And as a starter:
It had a four cylinder engine with a 5 speed gearbox.

OK, OK just kidding, Chris

Development of the engine and building all of them as well as rebuilding of the gearboxes was done over here at our place.

Anyway, great job Chris

Bernd
How does it come, the moment I do it right, it works?

I'm seriously liking the grey (instead of silver) Fiesta dash bezel and heater control panel... cool.gif
Not a fan of the Puma's silver painted interior bits 1112202173.gif

We went to see a puma cup car that was for sale on here in 2005 as were interested in the Proflex suspension, it wasn't suitable for our sprint car in the end. Its a shame I didn't have the money to buy the car back then as it was very cheap for what you got.

Steve, I hope you don't mind me posting up a couple of pics of it?

Thank you Gaydek and Lisa!! biggrin.gif They are superb pictures. biggrin.gif It's interesting to see the different design of wheels and steering wheels on the early 'test' cars. I also did not realise that that there was more than one blue and white 'stripey' car. I also like the picture of all the white Puma's lined up ready to go out to their new owners. The detail pictures of the bare shell are also interesting too. biggrin.gif Thanks for that guys. biggrin.gif

Here's a couple more pictures that were posted on puma-team.eu. biggrin.gif

Love his picture!!! wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif

Thanks Bernd! biggrin.gif

I saw that the VCT system was disconnected. Why was this? Aside from the camshafts, were there any other internal changes to the engine. Also, did the gearbox have a limited slip differential, and how did the ratio's / final drive differ for the standard 1.7?

I'm curious to the see the route you guys took in tuning the 1.7 engine in comparasion to what Ford Racing did at Boreham with the Racing Puma?

I know that it isn't a "Puma Cup", but there is a Puma and a track just like in a "Puma Cup" wink.gif .

Nice footage, proper thrash cool.gif

The sound of a race engine on the rev limit in top gear (as at the end of the long straight at the Ring) really does it for me crazy.gif
