Hi

I had the fuel pump, starter motor & CAT replaced last September costly quite a chunk of money. However, the other evening when pulling out of a junction at 5pm so road very busy the engine seemed to lose all power. The more I accelerated the less power I was getting and eventually the engine cut out completely causing problems for other road users. I phoned the AA of which luckily I'm a member and they diagnosed a fuel issue but couldn't determine what. They towed me the mile and half to my usual mechanic who has checked the fuel filter and pump and there is no issues there, also when the car was put on his diagnostic machine no error codes or faults come up. Yet still the car will start but cuts out within a matter of minutes less if you press the accelerator. We are both stumped and would welcome any ideas of where to look next. PS AA bloke checked oil and spark plugs.

Thanks in advance

Welcome.
Some thoughts on searching other posts.
1 - Look in engine bay at the back there is an earth wire, is it broken (there are others though this is the commonest one to get ropey)
2 - check oil level
3 - any engine fault codes reported
4 - when was the fuel filter last changed or the air filter
5 - a good read here link read all the way through
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

Unplug the lambda sensor and see if you can rev it. Sounds to me like you have a rich condition post combustion and the ECU is shorting the injector pulse.
