Got my Puma last week and filled it. It was on warning for a few miles so I was driving it on fumes from the dealership where I purchased it. Anyway 75 miles later my needle in on 3/4 of a tank. Is this right, so 300 miles to a tank for a 1.7?

probably not. the neddle drops away quickly after the quarter of a tank mark. I get about 240 miles when the light comes on. Best was 300 miles and that was with mostly motorway driving.

So you get 240 miles when the Warning light comes on, ie when there is next to no fuel in the tank? So my estimate of 300 miles for a full tank means my Puma is drinking petrol like an alcoholic?

it varies from car to car dramatically, somwhere between 240-350 so ive read.....

I get 200 when the light comes on, then an additional 40 from there

0ver 300 miles is possible only dependant on your driving style.
250-300 per tank is the norm for everyday driving.
Puma fuel tank is the same 40+ litre tank as a Fiesta.

So 300 miles would be about right then.

nobody can say how many you should get.

people that drive like grannies wink.gif get anything from 280-350 some saying they have reached 400 which i do doubt

but most people seem to get between 220 and 300.

in the frp i get about 200-230 everytime motorway driving and about 160-180 all town driving but i have got a lead foot.

by the way once your light comes on you still have one gallon left so you will easy get 25 miles from when the light comes on and if drove very sensibly upto 35-40.

I expect to get 250 max. I filled it up the other day (the light was on) and it only took about £24 anyway. Small tank, small max miles. Long distance 300 possible, of course, but razzing around, no chance!
The petrol needles are the least scientific thing on the car! One of my cars costs £60 to fill up and reads 3/4 full after about 20 miles. 20 miles for £15!, um not really!!! I trust the light thought and (although I don't know for Puma) many cars petrol lights come on around 8-10 lts. Somewhere between 30 and 60 miles dependant.

I get 300 out a full tank too. That includes when the red light comes on. I do a mixture of country roads and motorway.
I love my Puma

Jeez, this gets asked so often it should have an Article System link.......

301 on the last tank before light came on, but was driving like spens tongue.gif

259 before light came on this tank this morning - but that was normal having a wee bit of fun driving.

230 if i razzle it all tank.

Everyones driving style is different as well as the driving conditions so nothing is gospel.

Check this out. 330 miles and the fuel light didn't even come on. This is how I did it:

Now the Puma will be clocking up the miles (30 miles to work, 30 miles back = 300 miles a week). I worked out that I have to use one tank of petrol a week, because I can't afford anymore. It's a mix of town driving, stop and start driving and country road/single carriageway driving.

I try and drive really, really economically. I stick at around 55-60mph, but sometimes it can drop to 50 or even 40 if I get stuck behind trucks or slow moving traffic. But for once I don't mind, because it saves fuel. Hehe.

Nice gear changes, no revs above 2500 rpm, slow acceleration, anticipation, careful braking, and a little bit of coasting here and there.

I was amazed blink.gif

from a full tank i have had 320 miles. 290 miles motorway and 30 miles normal driving on 30mph rds.

i work it out by £33 = 300 miles for the past 2 journeys i done.

but it was mainly motorway miles doing around 75mph. if its normal driving i only get aound 240-250 per tank

Well... Donno why... perhaps I just simply haven't got a life... biggrin.gif But I started putting all my my bills in excel.. hehe... Here's my results..

On average I go 27,5 mpg.. so on average I go only 290 miles per tank.... (but okay... I like hard accelerations sometimes... rolleyes.gif )

My max on a tank was 35,19 mpg... so.. hang on... 372 miles on a tank.... tongue.gif (remember that trip.. went EXTREMELY slow in high gears.. hehe..)

My lowest 22,8 mpg... about 241 on a tank..

Anyways.. about 300 miles is a pretty good guess, I believe...
Hope it helped... smile.gif

Cheers - LL

Mine varies greatly. The best I ever got on half a tank was 200 miles with some slow driving back from Bristol. I never let the fuel go too much below 1/4 tank and the best I've got is 290 miles. This is a pretty handy discussion as I've just got my dream job in Manchester and will be doing 94 miles a day. I was thinking of driving at no more than 60mph to save on the petrol! Its nice to know that if I keep the speed low I can save on bills.

Actually, out of interest, has anyone converted the Puma to run on autogas? If so what is the weight, performance and mileage like?

naa.. used the measures from my good old calculator.... 1 gal = 3,785 L... and 1 mile = 1,62 km... wink.gif

How much is an american litre...??
