My situation is quite similar to Cartman´s one. My name is Victor and I live in Spain. I know I should have posted a presentation at first but I do not know how to add images to the messages (and I am a little lazy, too).
Well, this is my 2nd puma, bought in 1999. It is a 1.7 and now has 180,000 km, but it still has plenty of power. I have fitted an FRP airbox and inlet. I have bought FRP cams, a second hand complete FRP exhaust system, ST150 complete front brakes, FRP second hand rear brakes, 4 new white 16" compomotive TH2 and front Puma Recaro seats. All these things are waiting to be fitted...but it would never be an FRP, of course.
I have thought many times about purchasing an FRP and use my car as a donor to convert it to LHD but I do not know if I can register an FRP in Spain because perhaps FRP cannot be homologated in Spain. I have asked about it in Spain and some people has told me that if FRP has an "european password" (I do not know what is the exact term in English) there would be no problem but perhaps it only has an "UK password" because it is really a different car and was only sold in UK. Besides, there can be insurance problems in Spain.
Do you know something about it?
Another way to do it, as I think it has been mentioned before in another post, would be to change the chassis data from my car to the FRP and get an homologation of the changes done in "my" car. Is it possible to do it? How?
I am still in doubt: spend money finishing my car or reserve it to purchase and convert an FRP?
Thanks in advance
Victor
