THECAMPAIGN AGAINST LIVING MISERABLY, or CALM, is a registered charity, which exists to prevent male suicide in the UK.   In 2013, male suicide accounts for 78% of all suicides and is the single biggest cause of death in men aged 20 – 45 in the UK.

I have decided to make my first ever track day car to help raise awareness of this charity so men who maybe in need can get help and support

i have a w reg puma 1.7 vvt i have a rough idear of what im going to do but your expert opinions and advise is what i need im going to start lightening it tomorrow (ill post photos then)

because of funds this is going to be a very long build but ill keep you up to date as much as i can

Hi, great idea.
The Puma is very enjoyable on track as it is.
Could start with ensuring mechanically sound, suspension, brakes, tryes, fluids in top form etc.
Put graphics on the Puma and start using it.

It needs new shocks brakes and tires i swoped a fiesta that i was selling for 150 for the puma so it was very cheap so needs some work. It has no mot or tax at the moment (will be sorting as soon as i get funds)
but the engine and gear box runs real nice!!

Started stripping it down today to make it lighter i cant upload photos so if someone wants to let me know how

thanks

Photos should be no larger than 1024 x 768 then the Gallery works fine :-)

Very likely. You need to have the photos already hosted on the internet either here in the Gallery or say photobucket.
You will not see the Gallery in mobile view.

I have not stripped my car but others have so you may get some replies in a bit.
It will get noisey inside without the fabric to absorb sound.

You could rip everything out that's not needed but they can look real messy depends what you trying to achieve. Is it a out and out track car that won't be on the road or do you still need some creature comforts if your using it on the road. Mine is a full on race car with everything remove or replaced with lighter components or if something had to stay it got holed or ground down to save weight
There are only two sports racing and bull fighting, the rest are just games

Hi. Have a look in the track day section and look at my post titled "race car photos" and look at page two for a interior shot. Door cards I used a lightweight plastic foam board from a place in sheffield called Century plastics.

So could i just like a peace of perpex as a door card ? And just rivet it in ?

1.8 focus clutch not a popular move.
I have a standard Puma clutch in mine. Depends how many track days realistically you are going to do.
http://www.pumapeopl...ng_an_ST_Clutch
Axle spacers and wheel spacers on a track orientated Puma, I'd save the money.
Have a look at Scubsteve track prepared Puma for a not so race orientated project.
