Thought id just say hi and say well after having a lot of gas guzzling cars (4.6 hse range rover, jags, fiat coupe 20v turbo) i thought i need something which will give me a little more mpg to the pound. So instead of a pub crawl i thought i would do the same but visit showrooms after over a week of looking around i came across a 2002 steel blue 1.7 puma lux in mint cond 1 owner 39,000 miles with fsh (main dealer).
now being in the motor trade in the past i remember how this little car put a smile on my face back in 1998 when i took one out for a spin so i ask to take it out for a test drive, with the keys in my hand i jumped in the car and of i went was gone for over 1 hour (time passed so quick) and yes i got that smile on the face, kats had the cream look again hehee. Anyway to cut a long story short i fell i love with the puma handed over a deposit now cant wait until the 21st to get payed so i can pick her up cant remember being so excited about a car in a long while

Dave

Dave If it's got FSH make sure they have changed the Cam Belt, as we have found out not all dealers do!

The cam belt has not been changed but this was taken into acount when i agreed the price of the puma got a real good deal
payed £3680 with 1 yr warranty and new MOT (and has al the extras inc heated f-r screen C.d, A/C, Heated mirrors ect)

if i wanted to get a little more power (10-15hp) but not change the way the Puma drives id did think of a full miltek 4-2-1 exhaust system but not sure because this is a free flow system, would i loose low down power (am i right?)
also a K&N panel filter
i have also read that because my car will be a 02 puma that my ecu i can not remap with the frp map (is this right?)
then last but not least i want to lower 30mm and add 16" or 17" fox evo 3 rims but dont want it to bottom or loose the nice feed back i get from the wheel.
Please give feed back to what i say as this car is going to be new to me and i know some people have had puma's for years

Dave

P.s forgot to mention i do not want this puma to sound like a boy racer so if this would happen by fitting the miltek please tell me

Yes you are wrong, i have a full Miltek system front to back including sports cat, car drives like a dream in any gear

i have also read that because my car will be a 02 puma that my ecu i can not remap with the frp map (is this right?)

Wrong again, 02 Puma = one that has been stood around, last Pumas made were the Thunders in late 2001

then last but not least i want to lower 30mm and add 16" or 17" fox evo 3 rims but dont want it to bottom or loose the nice feed back i get from the wheel.

Stay Standard then - or spend lots of money sorting it out.

It will be quiet - until you floor it = it'll let folks know that your coming.

not sure what you mean the car was reg 2002 on logbook and is on a 51 plate

apart from that thanks for your feed back

The Ford Puma Thunders were the last Pumas ever made, going into production on the 5th of November 2001, they only came in 2 colours, Magnum grey and Moondust Silver - not Medium steel Blue.

There is a VIN plate decoder on here somewhere - or there was, but MSB was one of the final Puma colours before the Thunders were made.

If your car is insured as a Thunder - insurance company mistake, then get it put down as a Standard model, as Thunders came with every (almost) option as standard, including leather interior, therefore higher premium.

Hope this helps you.

I cant help you with that one mate, mine was already fitted when I bought the car.

I have got the original reciept with the history though, I will dig it out tomorrow unless someone more in the know answers the post first.
