Right quick question for you all.
Will a 1600 head bolt onto the 1700 block? Bore spacing oil and water ways all lining up and whatnot.
As i was just thinking that as the 1600 has better tuning potential and cheaper to do as well due to no vct specific cams. That i could go for a 1.6/1.7 hybrid engine that would have ITB's and a few other racey bits fitted as i need a bit more power in my car. As much as my very commited driving style (or not being right in the head as im told by other guys in my class) and the nimble handling puma is good some tracks im being shown up by the more powerful and larger capacity clios.
It is just a random thought as i can just go to a 1600 and tune it if need be.

The 1600cc Sigma cyl head will physically fit, but I am not sure if the standard ECU will go to LIMP mode, as there is no VCT connection.
Good news is the compression ratio will probably go up to approx. 11.5 to 1.

Thanks for the reply guys.
Interesting that the comp ratio would go up by so much.
I could go the full 1600 route but thats too easy. It would also mean having to deal with the DVLA getting the capacity and engine no changed and since they scrappy all the local offices last year they are a bit hit and miss on their service these days.
I was also thinking that retaining as much capacity as i can will always help with getting power (not that it is a massive difference but every little helps). Plus it is doing something that wee bit different to the norm.
