New Clutch Advice

It's very clear a new clutch will help the car, considering the age, mileage and probs I've exampled, however I'm not sure how important it is that I get it done in a certain time frame???? to say I'm not exactly made of money at the mo is an understatment but the last thing I want is it too end up costing me more because the clutch has knackered the flywheel!
I never looked into clutches before so whats the best to get for reasonable money, Ford OEM, Helix maybe even one from a 1.8 mondeo (would that work? hmm)...
Did come across this LUK kit on 'that site' cant remember if your allow to post links to fleabay on this forum but sure it won't hurt, I'm not trying to sell or advertise anything, I liked the sound of this... good price worth getting? - LUK Clutch Kit
Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

My FRP clutch was done a couple of years ago, and that had lasted 75k miles. I just fitted a standard clutch back in as I won't be doing 75k miles in the foresee able future.
There is a bit in the wiki guide I think about using a ST150 clutch I think.
Make sure they do the thrust bearing / slave cylinder at the same time. False economy not to.
I think I paid around £400 for the whole job at a Ford dealer, So I expect you will get it cheaper at a independent garage.
Mk3 XR3i
R Reg 1.7 Puma
T Reg 1.7 Lux Puma
Now its Racing Puma 072

ok thats definitely helped, thanks, think I'll just stick to a standard clutch now, where's the best place/best price to buy one and a slave cylinder?
Thanks Again!

wow! where you are based? I don't have any experience or proper knowledge of the helix clutches even though I've heard from a lot of people that they're good.
What are the main improvements over standard, build quality and 220mm Im guessing? do they give a similar or the same pedal feel? I'm also guessing that price you quoted is plainly for the clutch and not bearings ect?

Using the standard cover plate and bearing the pedal will feel 'standard'.. years ago Helix did do a VERY heavy uprated cover plate, which i had fitted for some time( and still have in my garage)... it was a nightmare to use for the few year of ownership..lol
budget for some 75-90, pinch bolts and a couple of boot straps too..
