I have now another vintage lens 50mm f2 (early 1960s) and the 6 aperature blades retract fully into the lens wall which is only about 3mm thick, let loads of light through looking forward to trying this one.

Why buy a new lens when a vintage lens can be tried for the cost of 3 pints of beer.
Also gives an opportunity to try different focal lengths cheaply the adaptors I have 3 different ones now are very cheap as well.

Today first go rigging up the canon 1100d to the scope (no lens) and whilst I did not nail focus this was the first image of a group of stacked images taken.
I get lots of info from stargazerslounge it is a great forum for this stuff.

Last night I tried M 44 with the Canon 1100d on my tiny tripod connected to Nexus 7.
Beehive cluster taken using vintage 50mm lens f2 4 seconds ISO 1600 16 lights and 13 darks. Slight tweak in levels. Edge of a town with significant local light polution.
