Date & Time: 05 April 2003 @ 12:00

Location (Town/City): Basildon, Essex

Venue: Festival Leisure Park

Contact Person: Yvonne Bardwell (iamv2001@yahoo.co.uk)

Details/Directions:

Big SX Meet 2 is a lunch and bowling meet!!

Meeting at 12 noon on the Leisure Park, we will depart at 12.30pm in convoy for lunch at an eating destination - yet for me to decide ohmy.gif)

I have booked 2 lanes at Hollywood Bowl on the Festival Leisure Park at 3pm on Saturday 5 April 2003. The 2 lanes are for a maximum of 8 people per lane and I have booked us all in for 2 games each. No deposit is needed. If the meet exceeds 16 people, then a deposit will be needed for the 3rd lane.

First come first served!!

M25, J29 signposted for A127. Join A127 towards Basildon/Southend. Go over the half roundabout and turn off for I think it is the A176 for Billericay. The slip road off bends to the left. It may well be signposted from here with the good old brown signs for the Festival Leisure Park. If not, here goes ... Turn left at the roundabout. Will take you under the A127 you just come off of. Straight over the next roundabout. Left at the next which means B&Q will run along your left hand side. Over the traffic lights. Over the next roundabout and first slip road off for the Leisure Park. We park up by Pizza Hut. You should see us all.

Looking forward to seeing the usual crew and any new faces ohmy.gif)

CAN I REMIND YOU ALL, THAT IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND A MEET, PLEASE LET THE ORGANISER KNOW OR SIMPLY REMOVE YOUR NAME FROM THE ATTENDANCE LIST. ALSO, IF YOU DECIDE TO COME ALONG, ESPECIALLY IF LAST MINUTE (WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY FINE - IT'S ALWAYS GOOD TO SEE EVERYONE), PLEASE TEXT, EMAIL OR RING ME OUT OF COURTESY SO I KNOW TO EXPECT YOU AND THE OVERALL NUMBERS I AM TO BE DEALING WITH. THANKS.

Hi PumaPeople biggrin.gif

For those of you who have read the details for this meet and are either interested or plan to come along, please ensure you sign up for it either here on this Forum page or to me via email. I have 2 lanes booked for 2 games of bowling, that's 16 people who can play (max 8 per lane). Please appreciate that I need to have a rough idea of numbers, not only who wants to bowl, but also for the pub lunch.

Priority will be given to those people who have contacted me to say they are coming.

Looking forward to seeing the usual crew and a few new faces smile.gif

See you there!

Hi Matt,

Great that you plan to come along. I have booked a table at the pub for 12.45pm, if you want to join us and we will no doubt remain their until bowling at 15:00 back on the Festival Leisure Park. We wil meet on the Leisure Park at 12 noon and leave for the pub at 12.30pm.

I attach some URL links with maps. Guess you may need to copy and paste them, for them to work :? Hope they help!

The first link, if you click 'how to find us' and then 'road links' it will take you to how to find Basildon and the Festival Leisure Park. I am sure it will all look familiar to you, as I know you have been before smile.gif The second link is a Street Map link showing the location. If you want another version of the map, the post code for the Leisure Park is SS14 3WB. The third link is for the Festival Leisure park itself.

Hi V,

Just to let you know that i'll be attending my first Essex Meet on Saturday! Am working the morning and am not sure what time I'll be able to leave (around 12.30 1ish I hope) would love to come for lunch but I might be late (no surprises there laugh.gif ) Can I meet up with you somewhere along the line?

Couldn't resist not coming, being just in Wimbledon, would be rude not to! biggrin.gif Whats the best route from here to there? Round the M25 or is there an easier route?

Me too! (Coming to the Essex meet I mean.) I reckon round the M25 would be your best bet on a Saturday morning, but I'm hardly an authority on driving routes in and around London!

Hello!

As requested,

The pub postcode and address is as follows:

The Four Seasons
Victoria Road
Laindon
Essex
SS15 6AW
01268 540051

http://www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dll?g...&arrow=Y&zoom=5

It's easy to find. Turn off the A127, signposted Dunton Engineering Centre (the next juntion after The Halfway House Pub). Take 4th exit towards Southfields and Laindon. You'll go over a set of traffic lights and will see turning for Ford Dunton on your left). Go past a load of car dealerships. Go over the rounabout. At the next roundabout, turn left, then immediate right. You'll see the pub.

I have booked a table for us all for 12.45pm.

See you Saturday.

Hi Phil,

Gr8 to hear from you and that you will be joining us all on Saturday. Looks like it's gonna be a well turned out meet, so for your first SX one, you have chosen well 8)

As Keith said, I reckon coming round the M25 should be your best bet. We will be leaving the Festival Leisure Park at 12.30pm to go to the pub for lunch. I have already posted a link to this page for how to get the The Four Seasons. We are returning to the Festival Leisure Park before 3pm, as that is when we are all bowling. Best bet will be for you to ring me when you are on the A127. I will private mail you my mobile number. If you can get off the A127 as per directions to the Four Seasons, we'll either be able to direct you in or someone can come and get you, if not myself smile.gif

See you Saturday!

Sorry Keith, but I couldn't resist passing comment on this one

I'll never forget the meet you came to and you got so lost you spent about 3 hours still trying to find us. I admire the fact that you didn't give up and am glad, when I'd finally found you, you'd done the sensible thing and eaten lunch, even if on your own, at McDonalds laugh.gif

This Saturday, please make sure (assuming you arrive on time for departing the Leisure Park at 12.30pm), that you position your car up front and between some of the others, so you stay with us every step of the way!!

See you Saturday!

All,

Just to let any of you signing up to the SX Meet now know, that you may not be able to take part in bowling, as all 16 places are full. I will do my best to book another lane next to the two I have already booked (I may have to pay a depsoit on this one) and will then split the teams over three lanes.

I can not make any promises, as if the lanes are already booked, they are already booked! Watch this space for an update.

You are still welcome to join us for lunch and spectate at Hollywood Bowl, or have some fun on the arcade games, or coke in the bar smile.gif Kate, Matt and Kev will be spectating anyway, so you wouldn't be alone! BUT please let me know, as looks like I need to increase the booking I have made at the pub again!!!! Still, it's healthy profit for them

Looks like being a good turn out for the day - hadn't expected it to be this popular! Let's just hope the weather stays dry smile.gif

Thanks!
