I need advice, need to put my PG 4-channel amp in the boot somewhere (dimensions are 15"x10") anybody got any ideas / pictures of how to do this neatly??

I've got an auto-acoustics stealth sub sitting on the right hand side ( http://www.autoacoustics.co.uk/sbo-fp97.htm ) - my last car had the amp screwed to the back of the rear seat but i'd ideally like to do something a little neater if anybody can suggest anything!!

I've fitted a stealth box with the amp on the back of the rear seat but I covered it & the boot floor with carpet first. It's not ideal but reasonably neat, I'll post a piccy on the site.

If you look carefully you may see a resemblance between http://www.autoacoustics.co.uk/sbo-fp97.htm & my photo:-)

Cheers

Ian

the stealthbox doesn't seem secure enough for my liking with just the velcro - did you use anything else??

Put my two alpine amps under a false floor. Cut out pieces just smaller then amps so they can be seen and allowed for ventilation, so no need for fans. Coated the whole thing in carpet and aluminium trim from B&Q. Looks good now, although I may redo the trim now I've got more experience. This way you only lose a couple of inches in depth from the boot. It also allows you to hide all the wiring, dist blocks, xovers etc you may have lying about. Also means the amps can't be nicked unless the false floor is also removed, not impossible but anything that slows the thieves down is ok by me.

Forgot to mention, if you mould the false floor round your stealth box it should hold it quite securely. Did this with my home made subwoofer box and its not moved at all. Also makes it differcult to nick, see above.

any pictures of your false floor would be greatly appreciated...

what thickness mdf do you suggest? - did you secure the bottom layer of the floor to the metalwork of the boot or does it stay in place well enough.

I think i'll definately do a floor this weekend as it seems the best option...

Remember seeing Ians at the North West mini meet - extremely tidy, however seemingly prone to the old water ingress from the tailgate......remember the 10 inch rule......

I don't have any pictures at the moment, but I'll try and get some posed this w/e.

Use the boot carpet as your template for the false floor. I used 18mm MDF with 2" sq softwood for supports, but use sizes to fit the height of your amp.

Fit the floor in two halves, split left and right as you look into the boot, masked the join with some T shaped alumimium. Don't forget to leave access hole for spare wheel nut with a small carpet flap over top. Nothing worse then having to remove a false floor to change a wheel on a wet cold winters night miles from home (from bitter experience).

While your at it you may want to sound deaden the boot floor. This made a big difference to the noise levels within the car when I did mine, it also gives a cushioned non-slip mat for the amps etc. I used a layer of dynamat, covered with roofling felt and then a layer of carpet underlay on top of that. Don't forget to do the wheel arches at well.

Tried to load up some pictures of my false floor, but it seems the site only accepts links to pics already on the web. I'm unsure how to do this so if you are still interested let me know and I'll email them directly to you.

Sorry 4 the delay - No I didn't use anything else & it's never moved although I did mount the amp fairly close so that it would act as a stop - just in case!!

i've got a stealth box and it wouldn't stop moving around the boot.
i secured the boot lining with double sided tape to the bare body underneath and found some double sided carpet tape at woolworths which has secured the stealth box very nicely!!!! its now solid as a rock...
