They are Arctic Terns ... they nest on the Farne Islands. Need to wear a cap as they attack you !!

They are cropped as I couldn't get quite that close even with 300mm (which becomes 480mm on a DSLR). Adjusted the levels but nothing else. Also took 3 rolls of slide film.

Great, especially the terns!

Who knows of a swan who has broken anyone's arm by the way? It's an urban myth! (they are also really easy to pick up by their necks...my friend has rung them before (I mean the legs not the necks!!!)).

Im terrified of swans was attacked by one as a kid and ended up with a large bloody gash on my face as well as a very sore finger, i was feeding all the ducks and swans on the lake and this one got annoyed that he hadnt got any yet (this is what mum tells me anyways

Ha! Been there Kay - as a full grown man I was attacked by a swan when I fed the ducks and not it. In my case it just gave me a few pecks though!
