Hi... my pesky heater control valve off ebay didn't last long!
My mobile mechanic says in the past he's taken it out all together & just connected the 2 pipes with some 15mm copper plumbing pipe.
Anyone done this? - reckons it works fine!? ....
But why put it in there if not needed!?....Doesn't seem logical to me - any advice much appreciated before I buy a ford version!

Depending on how you run the pipes,you either get only cold, or only hot air from the heater, shure it works, but it's nice to have controll

Hi CartMan.. many thanks for your reply... much appreciated!... so to be clear.. there's no warm? - setting your temperature dial half way will not work?.. Cheers!

i have done this, my heater control valve broke. i joined it so i only got hot. the hot and cold dial controls the hcv so if you remove it it doesnt work. its not hard to do infact its easy.

IIRC, connecting the "L" hose to the "Mole grips" hose is a quick "get you home" fix, if you carry a piece of pipe and two Jubilee clips (preferably). No heater function.
If you connect "L" hose to the hose directly behind it, and the "Mole grips" hose to the hose directly behind it, the heater will be permanently "full" on:
