My standard stereo has gone blank after a jump start, now I am fairly sure it came on after I started the car, cos I swore due to having put the the code in once again but I ignored it and left the car run for a while.
Now does the stereo automatically turn itself of if the code is not put in and if so how can I get the screen back to enter the code?

try disconnecting the battery again to see if it gives the radio a nudge back into life....

I think there's an inline spade fuse in the cabling behind the radio. Drag your unit out and check it, you might have blown it with the jump start

I had the same issue happen just this week. BAttery went flat, jumps start and stereo dead.
I took it to a local Ford garage who asked for over £80+VAT to inspect it... So I went to Halfords and got a replacement for less than £75. Now, when I take the keys from the ignition the new radio loses all its presets.
So, as per the advise above I guess I have actually blown and inline fuse on the permenant power source.
Where exactly would I find the fuse to check?
Cheers

jump starting not a good idea with a car with a cat I gather
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale

Should have searched around before posting...

The Owners Maunal says the Radio fuse is in one location, however, having followed the advise on the above post there is actually a another fuse in 22 that has blown - marked as Diagnosis in the manual.
This one is gone for me too.
So I guess replacing will bring my stereo back to life!
Anyone want a Silver 6000 series radio or a new Kenwood (only 2 days old???)

Just swap the live and the memory cables over- you have to do this on most Fords and Vauxhalls.
You'll know which one's they are as they are the only two to have a join in the middle, so that they are easier to swap over
