You will need a new headunit if you are using the Ford one currently as you need one with a pre-out for the subs

As far as I recall.

I guess you could stick with the Ford head unit as long as you bought an amp with high level inputs.

I didn't like the overall quality of it and have a Kenwood headunit running the standard speakers (but with crossovers on all the speakers) and extra tweeters plus a 12inch Kenwood sub/kicker amp in the boot. There is still just enough room to fit the shopping in and the bass can be felt as well as heard.

I took my sub out of the boot last weekend for the Mumbles meet to get a pram in there instead huh.gif

I will however be putting it straight back in the boot this Friday when I next have some spare time - with no bottom end, the tunes in my car at the mojo sound bloody awful!

Couldn't possibly comment as to whether the Ford fitted headunit has pre-outs - the headunit in my FRP lasted the journey from the Tickfords factory in Daventry, to the local shopping centre where I then popped in my Sony minidisc headunit (at the time, since replaced with a Sony MP3 head) which did have pre-outs... Running power/signal/remote on cables to the boot is easy enough. It would certainly be wise to secure the sub cabinet in the boot with some straps - like I still haven't got around to doing blush.gif

Is it easy to run the Power cable from the battery through the bulkhead to the back Jase? Been wanting to bung a decent amp under the passenger seat to power "proper" speakers.... ??

(and yes, I've searched.......)

I didn't go anywhere near the bulkhead... I'll try and remember to take some happy snaps of my wiring tomorrow too 10.gif

That's nothing against women though in general!

Jen, in response, I did fit one to my last car, I had a Sony Headunit wired pre-out to the boot with the remote with cabled the 12V off of the battery and then wired it to a pre-built sub/amp/box made by fli, all I wanted was a bit of extra bass and this was sufficient.. when I changed to the Puma I sold the sub and left the wiring in the other car though.. too big for the puma!
