The puma has been out of action for a while as family and building a house has got in the way. Should be back in action soon just waiting for the engine to be built up.Posted Image

Hello mate, your car looks really well. I tried to look through your original pictures but i cant for some reason
I wanted to look at your suspension/geometry set up as were are looking in to rose jointing the trackrod ends and bottom ball joints to keep the wishbones at the right angle for bump steer, by the sounds of it it made a good difference on your car :)
Also do you have fibreglass panels as our puma is 900kg and i cant work out where the other 50kg difference is to yours
This is our race car

Thanks, Ryan

Hi Ryan. I don't know why the old photos don't work. I will take some photos of the rose joints for you. 850 kilos was a guess as I have never had the chance to weigh it. Have you got Perspex windows ?

Ok that will be great
Yes the car has perspex windows and the dash is half cut away, we are still on the original steel bonnet for now.We are limited on power to weight so with the new engine we will be more powerful and competitive, were just around 40kg overweight at the minute with the current engine.

That looks really well mateMy Dad has an production touring car focus which has the bottom ball joints spaced and rose jointed also this is the plan for our puma.Out of interest what suspension are you running we run gaz gold coilovers Do you have to use road tyres in your series and can you enter while still a novice?

I had to cut and re-thread the steering column so there was plenty of thread going into the bearing. The extensions was made by a friend but I'm sure there is an easier way to fit them but i was committed once i had cut down the steering column. The wishbones are standard with poly bushes. you need to drill out the hub as its a tapered hole to take the bolt then space the bearing so your steering arms are straight thus helping eliminate bump steer

I'm running Avo's but I am having a bit of trouble with them they will need to go back to have the pistons shortened to get the ride height right. They have all ready been back to have new seals fitted and they told me to raise the ride height as the piston was bottoming out. I did this and the seals went again and I don't want to raise the ride height anymore as it will look like a rally car. Maybe they were designed to run with 17 inch wheels ? I can't fault Avo customer service and they have been really helpful. The series run list 1a/1b tyres I think thats right I have got Toyo R888 if that helps.

Thats a shame your having issues with the avo'sOur gaz golds have been brilliant, we run 450 front 500 rear spring rates and when we spoke to gaz they said the gold variant would be needed to run these spring rates, that might be why the avo's are breaking.
We also have to run road tyres but we run the federal fz201 but were struggling to keep them on for 45mins so have to go up on tyre pressures, apparently some of the guys run 40 odd psi hot to keep the r888 etc on for the race duration.
Ive pm'd you regarding the wasp alternators :)
Thanks

Can you adjust the camber in your series ? I have modified strut tops with eccentric top bearings to adjust the camber

Yes you can, we run standard on the back which is around 2degrees negative then a little over 3degrees negative on the front

Well after waiting and waiting for my engine builder to sort my engine I have deiceded to do it myself. I have just finished building up the engine to check the tolerances and all was well except the inlet valves was to close to the pistons so the pistons are currently having some machine work done. Once they are done it will be ready to go and I have everything I need to get it up and running. I ordered the paint for the engine today a nice metallic violet for the block and rocker cover and silver for the head. So hopefully soon I will have a nice photo of a shiny engine ready to be fitted
