Ok.. had the car for a day and a half, the stereo is a little lacking compared to me old system... - I've found this sub-box designed specifically for the puma: http://www.autoacoustics.co.uk/sbo-fp97.htm It looks ideal as I can just re-locate my old 12" sub to the new box,

Does anyone know if you can run an amp from any of the original ford headunits or do I need to buy a new one???

Does anyone have any advice how to best run cables from front to rear of car????

Many Thanks
Mark

Most amps are capable of running from a 'Hi Level' input, i.e. direct from your speaker wires, But for the best quality you are far better running off the line level outputs from a head unit.
Theres quite a few different models of Original Equipment Head units that were supplied with the Puma, i.e. the 5000, 6000 etc... and I don't know if any of them had Line Level outputs, ( the 5000 which I had didn't ! ), but most people who have played with their sound system will tell you that its FAR better to replace the ford equipment with another type such as Kenwood/Pioneer/Alpine/etc. etc.... I did , and the difference was VERY noticable.
Most if not all aftermarket units have either 1 or 2 sets of Line Level outputs for amps, front and rear, some even having dedicated Bass outputs.
You will hear a Huge difference with a sub in the boot.
Cables can be run down the side of the car under the carpet which lifts up easily after pulling the door rubbers away. Audiophiles will also tell you to keep the signal and the power leads for the amp seperated to avoid Hum, so, if you want you can run the cables down either side of the Puma.

my last car was running 2 amps (one 2 channel, one 4 channel) for front rear and sub, due to the limited space of the puma, I'll probably go for a stealth sub box in the boot, and just my PG 4 channel running the fronts and sub, after all; the back speakers are only there for a little 'fill'...
